What I don't understand is how they can go after people running a BT site. There's nothing on the site but tracker files.

It's more of a test. It's going to be trialled and they will see if they can make the charges stick.
The raid was made by a request from BSA, not MPAA. Although MPAA is taking part to the investigations.
I'm sure this will be trialed all the way to get a precedent...

i dont care about movies and such i like torrents becuase i can download episodes of stuff i missed. common, no?

I don't know much about Finnish copyright law, but perhaps it is illegal to even facilitate piracy there?

They are trying to change laws in most countries to allow them to go after the people who facilitate torrents of illegal nature. The industry sees it as they are deliberately not helping them, thus they are supporting piracy.

we can expect more of this. I'm shocked that some people are actually surprised to hear things like this happen.

Soon they will be targeting ISP's and computer parts manufacturers for facilitating in the creation and distrobution of copyrighted material.

Sure they will. Then they'll start suing doctors for delivering babies who have eyes and ears capable of viewing and hearing copyrighted materials. After that, it's the Catholic church, all protestant denominations, and any other church claiming to represent a god who created a world in which copyright violations exist.

How far do you want to take it?

HAAHAHAAA....

MPAA (Motion Picture Ass...) are apparently liars too!!! Finnish police today announced, that they are very confused of MPAAs announcement that the raids were conducted by a MPAAs request.
The lead investigating officer Mr. Isokuortti said:

"It looks MPAA is trying to take credit for this raid. Fact is, that MPAA has NOT been in contact with the Finnish Police before or after the raids were carried out. Absolutely no investigation is going on on MPAAs request. Infact, MPAA has NEVER been in contact with the Finnish Police in the past.!"

"Raids were carried out on request by local BSA people..."

Can you say PWNED!!! 😀

I thought there was only like, 12 peeple in that country.

Also, as it relates to the validity/intent of piracy, I thought they were focusing on peeps that were ripping and then selling, not cracking and using or possessing.

Finally, as it relates to the one that dl tv stuff or movies that have been on tv, is that legal ?? Once something has been on tv is it not fair game? Will the mpaa be searching a home near you for vhs copies of tv movies that were broadcast over the airwaves? Will they be searching your car for tapes that you recorded off the radio?

So many questions.

12 peeple 😀, let me guess... you're American? Yup! 😉

EDIT: Like I said earlier, they are going to test how and what they can charge these people off. Its first such case, and they need to get a precedent. Also, records show that some 6000 illegal programs were dl😀 through them with prices ranging from ? 30,- to >? 6000,- :Q. They can be made to pay for these programs...
