Finished replaying Wolfenstein

So I finished replaying Wolfenstein:

I missed two bags of gold, one at the hospital and one at the castle, but I’ll be sure to get them when I replay it in the future. I got all the tomes and intelligence though.

I definitely enjoyed the game more the second time around. This time I used the exotic weapons a bit more, like the particle cannon, which vaporizes enemies nicely.

I think it’s a very underrated game, and it’s a shame it didn’t sell well.

It looks great with 4x RGMS and HQ filtering on my 560Ti as well as all in game settings at their highest.

I haven't finished it myself, but congratulations to you🙂 Electrocuting the enemies is always fun and the gameplay is a lot deeper than RtCW.

I tried going old school and firing up Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny. It wasn't the graphics that were the problem, it was the control. Two problems 1) lack of a one button solution for strafing (you have to hold a button down and then turn), and 2) whenever you move your mouse, it would move the character regardless of key binding. I couldn't figure a way to turn that off. Just made it too difficult to control my character and almost impossible to check around corners quickly.

You should do Quake or Quake 2 with mouse control.

Definitely a solid shooter. I'm not sure why some people criticized it so badly. Nice environments. Good weapon and enemy variety. Graphics are decent, though the flaws of the Doom 3 engine certainly show through at times. Interesting boss fights. Not really an innovative game, but defiantly a good game particularly if you've been into the previous Wolfenstein games.

I grabbed it and am glad I did, because it seems to been removed from Steam now.

So to add insult to injury; not only will it never go on sale again, but it's not even on Steam anymore. 😱 Damn. I wonder why.

No clue, I don't even know when it was removed. If it wasn't for this thread I still wouldn't have known. I was like Wolfenstein, I think I have that and had to check my library. I then clicked on the store page link and it just sent me to the steam main store page and searching for it on the store doesn't show up (only Wolf 3D and RtCW)

I don't think it was the new Wolfenstein that was on sale. I'm sure I would have bought it.

No, it wasn't the sale that was just a few days ago, the sale I'm talking about was like a month or two ago.

Yes, I’m referring to the 2009 sequel to RTCW, and I’m exclusively talking about the single player campaign.

I actually liked RTCW’s SP more because the weapons were better and the mission design was tighter and more atmospheric. But the sequel is still a very good game in its own right. In particular, the sand-box style was quite unique for a WW2 FPS.

As an aside, I’d love for someone to extract the Egyptian levels from the console versions of RTCW and figure out how to put them into the PC version. That section is chapter zero (prologue) and it details the events leading up to and your partner’s capture.

I've always wanted them to do another sequel to the series. Maybe make it in South America somewhere where many Nazis fled to and set the time in the late 40s or early 50s. Where they are continuing on with experiments and such. It could be good if done right.
