I used to be a huge Sk fan but the last 2 books in the Dark Tower series left me feeling like I should give up on him. Anyway, 11.22.63 was a great read but the ending lacked something. Its not the usual SK tragic ending where everyone dies but I felt it needed something more. Anyone read this book? Now I am out of reading material and don't know what else to read.

I haven't read this book, but I agree with you that the end of the Dark Tower series was a letdown.

How can you be out of reading material? I always have a huge stack of stuff I want to read. 🙂

It was a good book. the ending was kinda WTF but nothing insane. it's not a bad story

glad he came back and finished it the story.

It's disappointing to know that the Dark Tower series doesn't end well since I am just getting started with it.

Keep reading it. Books 3 4 5 are excellent. I did have to trudge through 6 and especially 7. All in all its a great story.

I need something new to read in the vein of SK. Not horror per-say but deep and thought provoking. I may re-read IT and skip the last 100 pages or so. Another great book but weak ending.

Looking at "Under the Dome". being over 1000 pages it should keep me busy for a week or two. Anyone read it? Worthy a read? I know its some TV series now but I dont watch much TV and dont know anything about it.

The Drama class putting on Of Mice and Men made me weep openly. No one brings side characters to life like SK.

very true. Ive been a big fan of his since reading Carrie and the Shining while in middle school in the 70s. I felt he lost some cred with books like the tommyknockers and thinner but he never really lost it completely. Ive re-read his bachman books and shorts many times over. Hell, even the mangler was great (short story, not the movie). Think Im gonna give under the dome a shot. 8 bucks for kindle version.

Wasn't there a multi year break in the Dark Tower series? I believe that's when I stopped buying his books.

There were some pretty big gaps in there, and it didn't help that King got hit by a car and seriously injured in 1999 (between Dark Tower IV and V). It seems like the quality of his work went down after that.

The book was pretty good up until the end. The end was a cheap cop-out that basically ruined the book IMO.

I finished it a couple of weeks ago via Audible.com

I really enjoyed the story up until the end. It felt like I made a huge investment as a reader with no pay-off.
