How long did it take you to beat it? My cousin and I during winter break played it for 10 straight hours (from 2 in the morning till 12 noon) and gosh darnit - we only quick saved it. Our other cousin played it and overwrote our quick saves, therefore erasing our 10 hour marathon of Max Payne. (We were pissed b/c we didn't know we also had to manually save it) We were on I think Part IV - where you break out of that military/SWAT type place. (The area where you get the Colt Commando .45)

tell me about it..I was freaked especially since i'm not much of a gamer--i even posted a thread here asking other members if they got freaked and if this was normal...everyone pretty much called me a wuss..

anyways you really get used to it and for the most part have a general idea of what to expect from the AI of the guys shooting at you...all in all it was a great production with a solid storyline and graphics. If they do make this a movie though, it might come across somewhat trite/cliche'

I thought it was a very good game.

My g/f and I (yes, my g/f of all people) finished the game together. We'd each play every other Chapter until the game was done. For some reason the ending just seemed kinda dull. The storyline was so good I think I was just anticipating more from the ending.

Oh, and we almost stopped playing the game when that boss guy starts chanting these evil satanic things. Can't remember who it is but it started to get really freaky.

Heh, you have to take this game with a grain of salt. New York City is bad, but not that bad.
There is a secret level if you finish I think either of the 2 hardest levels.
New York Minute is a b*tch though. The timer runs out at the worst possible times.
I dunno, I kinda like the game.
The bad guys leering way of saying Max Payne kinda sticks in my head though.

Max Payne had such a horrible ending. I thought the story was pretty good even if the writing was a bit too comedic for such a serious situation. Some parts of the game were really unbalanced. For example, the part leading to the chanting boss at the end of the first chapter was harder than the fight with him. The game also seemed insanely hard near the end because everyone seemed to take so many bullets to kill. I finished the game on easy and haven't played it since.

"Youre in a Graphic Novel Max!"

"Youre in a Computer Game Max!"

"Snap out of it!"

LOL, and that crazy demonic guy is Jack Lupino.

SPOILER!

Ok, the Valkyr lady that owns Aesir Corp. Trys to get away from Max who breaks into her big building, kills about 200 heavily armed and trained guards/suits/thugs then goes to the penthouse and trys to get her, and she jumps into a helicopter. Max spots the supports holding the huge radio antenna and shoots all 4 of them, leaving a teetering radio antenna. Max then fires about a clip into the antenna and the antenna collapses onto the helicopter. Part of the building (helipad), helicopter, and antenna fall about 100 stories, smashing to the ground in a firey inferno. Max is then arrested, but his partner Mr. Wodul, made an arrangement with Max that if he stopped/terminated/killed the Valkyr/Aesir lady that he can protect him in court and drop all the charges. THE END

The game is supposed to adjust the difficulty level when you play, so even if you're on easy mode, when you have full health(or no pain, I guess), enemies are much more likely to hit you, and it might take 3-4 head shots to kill them, as opposed to when you're almost dead, single head shots kill.

Any word if a sequel is already in the works?

I found the game got easier later on as I was able to pick up the colt. That thing will kill anybody quickly and effectively. One shot head kills while bullet timing was fairly easy. Dual ingrams are nice too, but they waste too many bullets.

well, after the game I felt obligated to watch the credits since the people involved obviously put in a lot of hard work(where are all those remedy guys from? a lot of them have that two-dots-over-letters-in-their-name-thing) At the end of the credits their is a statement indicating Max isn't done yet and there will be more to come..

Most fun part of the game- The building at the end was great

Hardest part - When you make it to the roof at the end and like 5 guys come out of the lobby area just as the helicopter is getting ready to take off...for me, Max could only take one more hit at that point so it was a b1tch to take those bastard out..

Did anyone else get the impression Max was pretty horny for Mona?

*SPOILERS*

Lamest part(s) of the game: Tie between that damn truck and the tire block on the dock level, and the ending. You'd think that Max would be able to fire a shot at the woman after all the crap he's put her through.

Best part of the game: The exploding restaurant. My first impression of this was wow. This section was very linear, but there's nothing like running around with walls exploding only to be greeted by an oxygen tank flying by your head.

I loved the game. I kind of wished it was a longer game, I finished it within a week or so of starting it. I've never been much of a gamer, that was the first video game that I had played from start to finish since the N64 Zelda game. And you're right, the colt made the game a little bit easier after that.

I really didn't like the scene with the screaming baby as the background noise when he was on valkyr...it was too much for me..and he's on that path of what looked like blood...very graphic.

That was WAY too much. I was so glad to get it over with it the first time only to have to go through it again a second time. Blah. It was terrible.

Max Payne is the 2nd best game I've ever played. No One Lives Forever is 1st and Half-Life is 3rd.
