Diocese spokesman Diedre Frontczak said yesterday the diocese wants victims to report abuse to police. Her comments came as the diocese produced an updated version of its sexual misconduct policy.
Under the revised policy ? all priests and employees who work with youths must be fingerprinted. In addition, it requires background questionnaires from prospective employees and church volunteers.
Frontczak said the fingerprinting is already under way and will continue when priests meet in June.
The fingerprints will be sent to the state Department of Justice for a criminal records check.
