version number is if you right click on "my computer" and hit properties
the regnumber is located on your license... you DO have your license dont you?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion and its either the product key or product id in there, i forget which one it is and i'm not in front of a 9x box to check.

Start regedit and look for this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion. In the right part of the screen you wil find variables with your info.

an easy way to get around in the register (you need to use start -> run -> then type "regedit" (w/o the quotes). the Registry-editor will now be started. hit ctrl-F to use the search option to search for "-oem-" which will display the registration number. The code you entered during setup is on the same screen.

  • bassically the same as above, but i always forget the location.;)
removing the 2 code's and the user name will make the computer prompt for one at the next boot

Usually the orginal owner stores the information in a safe place with the orginal CD rom in the same place. First try there then crack open the regedit tool and look fo it ;)
