hi. i have legally bought Warcraft 3 form costco. I want to uninstall it but then realized that i lost the jewel case that contained my cd key. i really dont want to send blizzard 10 bucks just for a new one either. I need my key back so i can reinstall it when i want to. i was just wondering if anyone could tell me where i could find it on my comp. or just point me in the right direction. thanks for your help.

I don't have WC3 installed on my system, but alot of games install the CD key as part of their registry entry.

Go under Start --> Run... --> and type Regedit.

This will bring up the Registry Editor and do a search for "Warcraft" and/or "Blizzard". You may have to go deep into the registry tree, but you may just come up lucky. :)

You won't find it in the registry.. you need a program called a "cd key grabber".. but these are often found on cheat sites and are occasionally disguised as trojans to steal your cd key instead...

if thats the case, unplug your connection, grab the key, uninstall the grabber, run ad-aware, reboot w/ no connection, run ad-aware again, plug in internet connection :)

And then format, reinstall Windows, download Ad-aware, unplug your connection, and run ad-aware again.
