I just graduated college with a computer science degree have obtained a job that will pay me enough that I can finally afford my own laptop (I've been using home built dekstops for years). I'm excited but what to make sure I make the right choice.

First, I have some general questions about researching what is best for me:
  • - what are some respectable sites for reliable laptop reviews?
    - where can i find some good recent laptop review roundups?
    - are there any good general info sites about the major differences between various laptop processors, video cards, and brands?

Secondly, here are a few of the things I am looking for in a laptop for myself:
  • - price range: $1500 to $2000
    - powerful enough to run games (good cpu, video card, and a lot of ram)
    - relatively thin, light and portable
    - sleek design. (cheesy, i know. i love how g4 powerbooks look, but i am not interested in a mac. what brands make good looking laptops?)

Thanks everyone in advance.

i don't know of any laptops that are both light and powerful enough to truly play new / newer pc games

You'll want either the X700 or up on ATI's line up or the 6600 go or up on Nvidia's line up. A lot of people like the Acer Ferrari (sp?), has an AMD CPU and the X700 but will be on the high end of your price range.
