Finding panaflos cheap

I want 5 FBA08A12H panaflos but i don't want to pay 11$+ for them each, where can I get them for a better price?!?!?!

Don't know why you want the H1A's. The L1A's provide plenty of air flow for a 1030. You can get L1A's for $4.50 at www.allelectronics.com and $2.25 at www.bgmicro.com.
Sorry, but I don't know where to the H1A's cheap.

H1A's for $11? You can get some U1A's for the same price. U1A's are the BEST. They provide the ULTRA HIGH SPEED FAN for your computer case pumping 40+ CFM! Of course..dB ratings are high..but you'll be pumping some SUPER air into it. I might just get one U1A for my Alpha PAL 8045.

Just to clarify: the fan "FBA08A12L" at bgmicro is the L1A? I'm a bit confused. I'm going for quiet here. Also, I can't seem to figure out what kind of connectors it has on the tail. are they bare wire?

Yes the 80mm Panaflo at bgmicro is the Panaflo L1A. The fan takes .1A or 1A and if you tack that on to the end of the model number it's an L1A.

The Panaflo L1A's come with a two pin connector that is easily modified to fit onto a motherboard fan header or a 3 pin to 4 pin converter. They do not have RPM monitoring so a third wire would be useless.

I have a Soyo Dragon+ with an XP 1700+ and an Alpha PAL 8045U. Not overclocking. Currently running at 39 C under load. I have a loud Sunon fan on the heatsink, which replaced a screamingly loud Delta. The Dragon+ has a three pin header on the mobo for fan speed monitoring. I understand that with only two wires the L1A will be unable to report fan speed. So should I plug it into a 4-pin lead from the PSU and disable the Dragon+ FOC fan monitor?

BTW, I have no clue how to mdify the tail of a fan. I'm sure there are instructions all over the net, but any warnings/tips here?

You are correct. The Panaflo will not be able to report fan RPM data to the motherboard. You will need to disable any fan RPM shutdown/warning stuff you have running.

Don't bother wiring the fan up to plug into the 4pin connector or even cutting off the 2 pin tail on the L1A. Instead, just snip off one of the plastic guides on the 2 pin connector so that it will fit properly onto the 3 pin fan header on your motherboard. I believe you need to snip the one on the right hand side if the guides are facing down and the 2 wires are coming out of the connector towards you. Just make sure the fan spins properly the first time you plug it in. If it doesn't, turn it off real quick and reposition it.

If I understand you right, I think I can just look at the current fan's red and black wires to get an idea of where the new one should go, then I won't have to guess. But I agree that just snipping the guides sounds like the way to go!

Try this one on for size: I think another culprit in my loud PC is the case fan. It is a 4U rackmount, and there are two fans on the front. One is an 80mm, the other looks to be a bit smaller, maybe a 60mm? Anyway, they are wired together to a single 4 pin PSU connector. Since I bought 10 of these cheap Panaflos, I'm thinking about replacing the 80mm fan with a Panaflo. Will i need to do some tricky stuff here, or should I just plug the new fan into a spare header on the mobo and not worry about hooking up the smaller fan? The smaller one looks like it was designed to cool a hard drive, because there is a 3.5" bay right next to it. I put the hard drive somewhere else so i might not need the small fan.

I know this isn't the clearest question, but I'm not currently looking at the computer so it's the best I can do.
