Finding out wireless password when already connected to the network

Hi,

I was wondering if it is at all possible to find out the wifi network password from a laptop connected by wifi?

Reason is a friend used my laptop today and gained access to my wifi password but i cannot figure out how.

It was not written down anywhere on the laptop, and in the router settings page it just shows *********** but he managed to get it...

So is it possible? and of so than how did he do it?

(hope this is allowed and is not seen as me trying to hack anything, its my own network)

If you are using Win 7 it is possible to log to the Wireless card manager and unHide the password.

Do not let guest use an admin account.

Right now go to your Router and change the password.

seems a little silly for the password to be that accessible, is there a way to hide it or simply only let outsiders use a guest account?

or like what if someone comes along and uses thier own laptop and you put the password in..then they can get it

If one needs such features there are Wireless Routers that can let you use a secondary SSID for this purpose.

If you don't trust the person, don't let them touch your hardware; it's as simple as that. He could've also stolen most, if not all, of the license keys for the software on your laptop, installed a keylogger, etc.

Some wireless routers allow for guest or secondary SSIDs, but that would depend on the router.

All you have to do is install "R***** v2" on the system, and it will show you the contents of those "hidden fields" (that normally show *****).

Unless the text box actually contained *s because the router is smart enough to not pass back the password.
