Finding local computer hardware stores

Anyone know of a good way to find enthusiast hardware stores? I know there are some within 30 minutes of where I live (I've seen some ads on tv and in papers) I just don't know where they are/what they're called. Google hasn't helped, it just turns up crappy stores that sell macs and compaq crap.

I've had the best luck looking through the local free computer newsletters--small newspapers that are mostly ads for computer stores and services with a few articles to fill in the spaces between the ads.

Computer newsletters used to be where I found out about the local stores as well. Ever since Microsource closed (in Charlotte) I've been buying online. Some cities just don't have decent local computer stores. The few stores I have been in since Microsource closed usually have six month old motherboards and charge prices that are insane.

Yellow pages give you some, but in all honesty...they are usually filled with the rip-off consultant startups so you can get good deals. It pays just to keep up with peeps from around town and ask of places they know of. I have a bunch of computer-oriented friends that I check with every now and then to see where they buy. Lately, most are going to a friend that works for Best Buy and getting stuffz through there.
