ping yourself by the computer name.

IE, if your computer is named home

ping home

You most likely are, but if not, go to www.whatismyip.com.

If you are on a LAN, Amish has the right answer & is much faster than me anyway.

ive got a dsl on a proxy server, the dsl has a dynamic ip, so its pretty handy for me indeed!

whatismyip.com is great for dynamic DSL subscribers, it's usually MUCH easier than accessing a DSL router & looking for the outside IP address.

People have no trouble remembering it, & it doesn't require any knowledge of their hardware.

I use it all the time.
