Ok, ok, I realize that this isn't completely hardware related, but this is the closest category. Anyways, does anyone know where to get something to eliminate cable clutter? I suppose I could use plastic ties if I had to. But I've seen these sleeve-like things, they're possibly made of woven nylon, slightly expandable, an inch or two in diameter and you can slip various cables through them. I have no idea where to buy them though. Something similar will do too.

And before anyone says anything, no, I will not consider trading my PC in for a Mac :p.

I don't know what forum you've been going to, but I don't think anyone is going to say that here ;)

Products for you.

I gather this is for cables/wires/etc inside your case?
If that be the case, you want a sleeving kit.
Froogle

If its for external cables, I would reccomend split flex tubing. The stuff they use in cars.

Sorry, I should have clarified, this is for external cables. The internal cables are actually fairly tidy, surprisingly.

Heh, thanks, second time you've helped me out this week. Yep, I think this one might be what I described: http://www.svc.com/cskit-blk-11.html

It looks somewhat skinny and small though. That's just because it's curled up and packed right?

Well, the description says

Package Contents:
10ft- ?" sleeving
10ft- ¼" sleeving
5ft- ?" sleeving
5ft- ½" sleeving
12x zip ties
1ft- 9mm Heatshrink Tubing
1ft- 18mm Heatshrink Tubing
6in- 24mm Heatshrink Tubing

So I guess a couple things in the package are 10 feet long... but you're right, it sure doesn't look too long in those pictures.

EDIT: oh, and the narrowness... I wonder if 1/4" is the diameter or the radius...

I've never bought any wire management stuff so I don't really have any experience with this stuff.

I actually use split flex tubing for my external cables and have not had any issues. Pretty easy stuff to use.

Although, I think a sleeving kit might be a little cheaper.

Edit: poor spelling.

Think I could fit six or more cables into that stuff?

Yeah, 10 ft long would definitely be adequate, even 5 ft actually. I'm more concerned about being able to cram all of the cables snaking out the back of my computer into it.

Depends on the cables. I use a 1 inch cable for my main monitor( power and vga), usb cable and power cable for usb hub, and then a wire for my keyboard/mouse wireless reciever. That's 5 Cable right there. Granted, all the wires are small, except for the pwer and vga cables to my monitor.

The 1/2 inch splite flex tubing have is used for my lcd montior(power and vga) and then i have another 1/2 inch tube for my speaker cables that run from the back of my pc to my sub/amp/control pod. The 1/2 inch cable can probalbly hold 3 cat 5 network cables.

I am very pleased with the way my desk and cable are arranged. Also with the split flex tubing, you should be able to buy little plastic mounting brackets for them that have adhesive backing on them. This way you can secure and bundles that you have.

Aha! That's it, and of course I'm right! :D
That flex tubing can be found in different widths, so you could probably fit any resonable number of wires in it.

Pfft, Lowes. Home Hardware could kick its ass any day .

I bought some bulk black 3/4" loom from here - http://www.cableorganizer.com/wire-loom/ It was fairly cheap, plus they have a decent collection of colors, sizes, and even connectors! I have a really interesting setup for my Xbox and PS2 cables, using T connectors, lots of loom, and a bunch of controller extensions (8 for the 2 PS2s, and 4 for the xbox) Anyhow, I also have some loom running on the inside of my rig, and a bunch of it is being used to control the flow of cables on the outside, namely the 3 long speaker cables that go from my subwoofer to my sound card, and one cable that contains the USB and power cables of my 2 external backup drives. Plus the loom just looks really cool. =D (Oh, and I had to do SOMETHING with the 50' I ordered... heh.)

Yeah,i hear yeah, I went to my local Home Depot and got 14 feet of the 1/2 inch stuff and 5 feet of the 1 inch tubing. They didn't have 3/4 inch. I plan to reorganize my TV/xbox/Tivo/Digital cable wires soon. So i wenout and bought another pack of 1/2 inch tubing. To accomplish the job. I love this tubing stuff. Makes things look really nice and clean.

Yeah, it's awesome. I bought some of the 1/2" and 3/8" tubing from Home Depot as they sell it pretty cheap too. The stuff on the website is awesome for modding, if you're into the whole bright colors shiny lights type stuff.
