You *are* in "Linux"

You're likely running bash, which is a shell. Like command.com only 100000 times better. What's
there to do on it? Well, it likely comes with a plethora of compilers. You can set up a
web server with Apache. You can set up and ftp server with wu-ftpd. You can email using
mutt and read newsgroups with tin.

Remember, Linux isn't for everyone. It pretty much "does one thing, and does it well".

If you want a GUI, install XFree 86 4.1, GNOME, GTK, and Sawfish. I have no idea how
to do that on a non-Debian system. You should try reading _Running Linux_ from O'Reilly. It's
a very good book.

Hope these help.

My first post is me posting a pic of my desktop. I guess the more interesting post is

<< Hey tallest1
So where do you store your pictures at? which server or do you have a website of your own? >>

Its my site & domain name.

<< tallest1, those are some nice screenshots, what program is that?

I think it's kind of amusing that you have your buddy list divided up into guys and women. nothing wrong with that, but it gave me a good chuckle. >>

Further down, I got a 'Undercover Cops' section. j/k

All that is under Windows. I use Litestep (free and extremely stable) with the LiteGnome theme. (You can find themes and wallpapers like those at sites like Litestep.net (Offline) and DeviantArt.com. I use Windowblinds for the window look but it eats up my RAM like a mofo.

I has just built a new uber system . . . . Ath XP 2100+ and a Ti4600

I was having trouble installing 2k, I was using the disk that came with my retired Dell but it was keyed to a dell motherboard. I had to use 98 for a while then I finally bit the bullet and bought XP.
