Find pixel percentage

I designing a 8 x 10 image. It is 1-bit mode. black and white only. For special reasons I need to determine a percentage of white(blank) pixels to black pixels. I heard there was a way with either photoshop or Illustrator. Anyone know how this is done?
 
ah thanks I will look into that, although if a photo software could do this it would be simplier If anyone knows?
