Find me a torrent for Win2K Pro!!

As some of you may know, I've been searching for a way to get a good copy of Win2K Pro. Here is the reader's digest version of why:
--Put my academic license on Dad's old laptop
--Academic version was ripped from MSDN DVD and wouldn't boot
--Had to DL copy off Kazaa that didn't have SP4; installed, patched, ok
--Apparently it was missing some key files (Paint & Control Panel Sound Applet)
--Need good copy (preferrably retail or OEM) that will boot on even really old machines

I have searched thru the five or six torrent sites in my fav's, can anyone recommend another site to try or even be a true angel & link me directly? (Or e-mail me the torrent file itself, ECETim@gmail.com)
If for some reason this is against the rules, I will kindly let this die if a mod will simply inform me.
Thanks in advance for everyone's help

If you have a legit serial number, you can contact MS and theyll send you a replacement CD. it won't be free, though. $30 IIRC.

Didn't even know you could do that. I might give 'em a call, but $30 is way more than free 😉
I'm sure there's a good copy out there somewhere, I just can't find it for the life of. Stupid supernova had to go away 🙁

Why not just contact MS and tell them the same thing....
Because they don't care. I was in a similar spot with my laptop; they forwarded me to Compaq, Compaq told me all they'd give me were the useless QuickRestore discs I already had. After much searching I managed to find a copy of XP Home for my laptop, which let me use the Asian characters I needed to complete my Japanese homework.

I can't find any torrents for it myself....

get the basic win2k pro version and slipstream sp4 onto it, google slipstream and windows and you should find what you need

I had a "basic" version off of Kazaa but I think that is the source of my problems. Thus I am looking for a known good version. I can slipstream fine, I just want an image that people have installed w/out problems. I only go home to the 'rents house on occasional weekends and that weekend is coming up in a couple weeks, so I want to make sure I have the right tools to do what I have to. Thanks!

I actually had a similar problem. I had an academic version of XP Pro that I got from school and it was not bootable. I used a program called AutoStreamer to slipstream SP2 with it and it automatically creates a bootable copy. So just use the academic version you have, get SP4, and use AutoStreamer.

Link: AutoStreamer

Sweet, I didn't have Torrentspy in my favs. I'll load up the torrents when I get back
Thanks for all the help guys!
God bless AT

$30 seems high, I couldn't see them charging any more than shipping costs.
It's $30 just to call them.

Huh? No it isn't. It's a free call to their replacement line, you tell them you lost your CD, they charge you $23 + $7, and they mail you out a new install CD. Now I don't know if the price for win2k is the same as WinXP, but that's how much they charge for a new Windows XP install cd.

That seems high, usually media-fullfilment costs are around $10. At least that's what service-pack CDs cost. I don't see why the OS CDs would cost more, if you've already paid for the license.

Edit: Wow, if MS really is charging $30 for XP replacement install CDs.. what a rip-off!

Anyways.. if the problem is that the W2K version you have isn't bootable.. why not just download the boot-floppy set, and use that? I know it's a bit more of a PITA than a bootable CD, but it would also work. (Assuming that they have a floppy-drive, that is.. I think most laptops still do, don't they?)
