Find me a cooler place to run a 5k in than this.

The BAA Half-Marathon has gone thru Fenway Park and the Franklin Park Zoo. Pretty cool to run along the Green Monster with people cheering you from the stands then running thru a zoo along zebras and giraffes.

I'm doing a "foam fest" 5k next weekend. I hope the 50' downhill slip-n-slide is as fun as it sounds...

A 5K race in Antarctica
One of our members, Omar Marcillo, is currently at McMurdo station in Antarctica. They have a tradition there of running a 5K race on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. He writes:

"It was not as good as I expected my time was 30m16s, in the first part of the race I was flying, once i touched the ice, my throat was drier and drier so I ended almost walking. Anyway, the scenery was awesome running on frozen ocean, with glaciers around you, it was quite an experience..."

Running on an airport tarmac doesn't sound appealing to me.
Is that tarmac mostly concrete? Or mostly asphalt? If concrete, EEEK!

Yeah, no thanks to running on an airport runway/taxiway. Sounds flat and boring except for the view of a few planes.

Being able to see the entire length of a run course is depressing. I would much rather have some turns, hills, and scenery to break it up.

😱 Do Want. Maybe now I can get my wife on board with a trip to Antarctica

ughh, no thanks.

I've been on the tarmac of both civilian and military airports, and there is nothing cool about them. Why the eff would I want to runa 5k on one?
