If my isp gives me a new ip address when I'm away from home and I need to access something (like a camera) on my network, how do I find out the new ip address?

I need a free solution, so no dyn solution unless there are free dyn available.

What resources does it use on the installed computer?

I have an old pentium 1.8 ghz 1gb ram laptop that I want to control.

BTW, I have an IP camera that I need to access directly so logmein won't work on that.

But logmein may have some other uses for later.

Any other solutions to use some kind of free dyn or find out ip address when you are not on network?

If you have anything at home running an email client, and a gmail with pop access, you can go gmail from a browser, go to the bottom of the page and click "details" and it will show all connections with IP's.

Yup dyndns is still free. You only get 1 host per account. Anything updating actively remains (of the old 5 account system). Register and get myipcamera111.dyndns.org.

Lots of routers do this for you and you don't even need to run an agent on a PC.
