Hmmm Think I found a new project.... Funny tho... It was going pretty good until I started getting like 130 hits.... Is it suppose to slow down if you get more hits? Seems like it's been working for almost a day solid ... running two instances on 2.4G ... Does this sound right?

Cpu1 Rating 84
Cpu2 Rating 93

Now that I got over 5K seti, while some of you may not think that is very much took my a whole half a year to do it. While other are doing this in one day I think it's time to move to something more interesting.

Thanks for your input.

Yes, it is normal for a job with more hits to take more time. Also jobs that take more tim eand have more hits result in more points.

What speed is the processor? My P3 933MHz has a CPU rating of 77-82 so I would guess it is faster than that but slower than my XP 1800+ that has a rating of 140-168.

2.4G HT... I have 2 2.4HT units, 1 Cel 2.4 & 1 2.8 P4 that I am going to convert over shortly... I also have a AMD 2200XP but I don't know when if I will get that running yet... Makes a lot of noise....

as far as performance goes...Does it matter if the think graphics are running in the background?

I would think that having the graphics running would slow it down but I'm not sure. I do know that those CPU ratings are way to low for that processor, they should probably be double that. Have you shut off screen savers and set the hard drives to never power down? Do you have any other DC programs running in conjunction with FAD?

That is a great fleet you have we would be honored to have you helping in our cause.

Is it lower because he is running two instances on the same hyperthreaded machine ?

Not if the he is running one instance of tray.exe and in the setup options the number of instances under the general tab is set to auto. Then it should run two instances of think.exe because of the HT.

I think you both mean same thing. You will have two THINKs crunching because HT makes OS think there's two CPUs. Since they are using same portions of CPU (HT's benefit is improving utilization of all portions). A 2.4/800 should be 168-170 and when shared, 84-90 each is about right.

Yup, you got to add both up and it is set to auto and of course thinks there are two CPU's. But, at least my CPU meter is up to 100%... So it must be crunching pretty good... Tho, one job I have running is getting over 180 hits and taking VERY LONG...........To complete it is at 99.90% and just hanging on .... But it's been crunching it for about 2 days now... That's a long time... But maybe it found something? Then again....

Yeah, I turned the graphics off didn't seem to make much of a diffrence. I guess it does get boring watching stick figure dance around on the screen looked cool at first. I like the SNOOZE function I rarly play any games but it's nice to just tell it to stop for awhile....Esp for burning DVD's or something you really don't want sucking up 100% of your CPU cycles.
