Rather uneventful overall. Still looks we won't pass the next team until roughly January 2.

How are the client?

Can it run as a service, how long for a standard result on a 1gig machine, memory consumption?

Im looking for a new project after Seti 1, and this is a project where one can make a difference😛

Thanks for the stats BitSpit 🙂

As for the length of time a job takes, it really varies depending on the job. Some jobs will have more molecules than others. I have had jobs take from a couple of hours to a day on an Athlon XP 1800. I think Bitspit runs it on more machines so he may have a better idea.

As for memory consumption it looks like it is very light. It is currently taking about 14K on my machine (Win 2000, XP 1800, 512MB RAM)

As for whether it can be run as a service or not, I haven't tried it yet since I haven't had a need for it, but I am asking over at the project message board and I will let you know what answers I get 🙂

Yes, I do run it on multiple machines. 7 to be exact. Fastest is a Tbird 900. Time can vary a lot for each job. I've had some jobs that take 1 hour and a few that take a day or two. I've even had one that almost took four days on a dedicated Duron 850, although that was one of those rare 500+ hits jobs. Over the past 41 days, it averages out to 1.6 jobs per day for my 900.

The client itself is stable. I've never had it interfere with any programs. It's memory combined between the client (the processing part), the server (uploads and downloads the jobs and downloads client updates), and the tray icon is around 16MB, although it can vary by 3MB depending on how complicated the molecules are.

As far as running it as a service, you'll need FireDaemon according to this topic on their forums.
