Find-a-Drug Questions

I got some questions to you FaD guys!

- What is "snooze"? Is it like I set the time for it in the setup, hit the "snooze" button and then FaD sits idle for the time I set it to and then starts crunching away again right afterwards?

- How can I prevent FaD from loading at startup? I deleted both autostart and registry but still it starts!

- Is there a way to determine when FaD did last save its results? I know about this 5 to 45 mins rule of a thumb but is there a file I could monitor to see when it was last saved. I also tried "FaD Shutdown", but I'd rather not have a 3rd party prog.

- Do I really have to specify the exact target I want to crunch on when I hit "receive" in the queue window or can I just say "download whatever you want to!" I was just astonished that you can chose the exact protein you want to crunch on and had to read on the site what each protein actually does.

Thx so far guys!!

Hi, the start up file is the LGO file and should be deleted out of the startup folder.Depending what OS your using it could be in the all users folder.I run codestuff starter to shut down startup processes on my systems.
Snooze is just what you said. you can put it to sleep for the amount of time you specify.
On choosing targets you can go into setupand choose the ones you want than it will download the ones you choose. On a slower system you can choose the faster running molicules so it doesn't take as long to finnish the job. This is called queue shaping. If you choose you can tick all of them and it willpull down what ever jobs it needs at random.

That's what I already did! But still it starts!

Thx for clarifying that!

If that's true, then I'm all set and ready to go!

scan your hard drive for think.lgo and you will find what it making it start on boot. i had the same problem on a windows 98 box and it was in the all users startup folder. the best thing to do is seach the entire hard drive and remove the one that is NOT in the c:\program files\find-a-drug folder (assuming a windows install).

Does anybody have a solution to my last question?

Is there a way to determine when FaD did last save its results? I know about this 5 to 45 mins rule of a thumb but is there a file I could monitor to see when it was last saved. I also tried "FaD Shutdown", but I'd rather not have a 3rd party prog.

Not sure as I've just started playing with this but if you look at the queue server there is a collum there that shows when it was last "updated", I believe that is also the last time the check point has been saved.
