Hey all,
Just thought I would share this story that happened to me recently:
I was having some pretty major financial strain, and I had to start prioritizing things in order of what could be let go first... Obviously, I have to have food, pay rent and bills for utilities, and other necessitites. When it came to a time when I had to let a bill slide, I decided that the only one I could let go without guaranteed dire consequences was my car insurance. Right around the same time, my coverage on my motorcycle ran out, and I didn't renew it. BEAR IN MIND, I was waiting on a pretty sizeable rebate that I had depended on, and was running a few months late. I planned to get my insurance back in line once I got the money. Top priority. Well, I finally got it, and I called the company that had cancelled my insurance for non-payment to see if they could re-instate my policy. They would not, but we started talking about writing a new policy. Well, when I got a quote, it was CHEAP. Now, it DID include a marriage discount I had not had before (I'm getting married Saturday), but I doubt that discount was very substantial. For whatever reason, the same coverage with the same company for the next six months cost me a GOOD BIT less than HALF what it was going to cost me had I continued to pay on my old policy! I was able to pay it all in full right then and there, and what I paid for the full coverage way WAY lower than EACH of the two payments I had left on my old policy. --Even after they checked their own records, which showed the cancellation for nonpayment. So, feeling good about it, I decided to ask them about a policy for my motorcycle. Turns out, again, with the marriage discount, and another discount I got for having a car policy with them, my motorcycle insurance went down about 35%! --And it was LOW to begin with!
Of course, I paid it in full also.
So, just let this be a little inspiration to you... If times are looking BAD financially, and bad things are starting to happen, you never know. Just keep the faith that things will turn out OK. (I am VERY optimistic about the future, ALWAYS, not matter what the present situation.) All things work together for the good.
