Financial Aid Question

I started grad school this fall. I filled out the FAFSA and got notification from the school that I wasn't eligible for financial aid - which I was fine with, whatever. I did however apply for a nursing student loan from the state I work in and was approved for the loan by the state. This loan is a sweet deal since it will pay 1 - 4K/yr for 4 years if I work within that particular state during that time frame so grad school could be an almost free ride.

Now I heard back from the state that the school won't accept the loan AND I today I suddenly get a new financial aid package from the school. What's up with that? It's got me wondering if the school isn't somehow getting a kick-back from somewhere.

I have heard this too many times......

Does the package contain only low interest loans? Any grants? or is it just apackage that says that you must take out a private loan?

Financial Aid depts in school can be dumb at times. I usually play along and request un claimed grants at the last minute.
