In an effort to upgrade my PC to better handle newer games such as Battlefield 2, I've purchased in the last three weeks the following

Athlon 64 3200+ (Overclocked to 2.5GHz at stock speed/voltage/cooler...will try higher later)
Asus A8N-E nForce4 ultra mobo
Dell 2405FPW 24" LCD monitor
BFG Geforce 7800GTX
and just 5 minutes ago, I placed an order for Patriot dual channel 2GB memory (2 x 1GB memory) since I guess 1GB is not enough for this bloated game.

I can't believe how much I've spent. :(

Anyways, I had been wanting to upgrade for a while but held back because I was saving up for a house but now that I own a house, I felt it was ok to finally upgrade my main PC. I think I went a little overboard though.

I've kinda been out of the loop for a while on games. Other than Battlefield 2, what other games are worth playing now? Next thing on my list of upgrades is a hard drive. 2 x 240GB is not enough these days. Does anyone know if I can run a single primary master hard drive as a boot drive and run two hard drives in a RAID to mirror each other as a secondary drive with the nForce4 Ultra Asus A8N-E mobo? Lastly, what kind of overclock are people with Venice AMD Athlon 64 3200+ getting and with what setting (voltage and cooling solution). Thanks.

Unless there's something quirky about your new mobo, it is perfectly feasible to have a primary boot drive and as many hard drives in whatever raid configuration as you can possibly hook up to the mobo.

Nice rig. :)

nice machine!

For other games, check out Half Life 2, farcry, doom 3, Unreal tournament 2004 (graphics arent' great but it has good gameplay and some excelent mods, like RedOrchestra).

I believe many people are getting 2.6 and higher out of the venice chips.
