My mate is a season ticket holder for N/c too.

I read the AT review of the passively cooled 8800GT ,whilst it did get much hotter than yours they didn't think it was a good idea. But I noticed the actively cooled 8800GT they had hit ~94C loaded, seems they naturally run pretty hot then!

Btw did you try your side case fan in different ways & measure temps?

Yes, no significant difference.

I didnt expect an 80mm Panaflo @ not much over spin-up speed to create much of a difference.

Well, just an update...

Ive managed to reduce my CPU Voltage down to 1.325V stable and Im still running my X2 6000+ at 3ghz.

Prime after 5 hours.... 46C load. Ambient 22C.

Giving the CPU 15 mins to settle... 38C.

Id say impressive considering my Slipstream is only just on enough startup voltage.

Not bad at all :)
Though a proper Prime 95 test is 24hrs really ,& even if you weren't bothered by having that high a level of stabilty you at least want to run it for 12hrs.

Just passed 24 hours of Prime stable at 3ghz @ 1.325Vcore (Stock is 3ghz @ 1.4Vcore)

48-49C Load Temps @ 23C Ambient. Not bad at all.

Sweet :) ....opps I should of mentioned that should be on the 'small FFT' test as that gets the CPU quite a bit hotter
Good temps though:cool:

Odd the In-Place FFT's says "Maximum Heat".

Ill re-run on Small FFT's.

Yea I know ,but the small FFTs got my CPU ~4c hotter IIRC.Don't know why:confused:

Gotten any snow recently? forecast was showing Nw/c getting some a little while back.

Oh btw ,I tried another washer on each clamp screw on my Ultima 90 & it made no difference to temps:(.
Looks like I'll have to lap it to improve things ,oh & I can't remember if I've already mentioned it but I know for certain that it isn't making full contact with the CPU as 2 corners of the CPU don't even touch the HSF! ,the HS paste patch left on the HS when its removed has 2 'corners' missing!:Q .I need to check the HSF with a steel rule & feeler gauges to see if it's at fault or the CPU.
Hmm I wonder if we have any flat surfaces at work?.......

Yes we got a couple of inches over like 2 hours. Was icy as hell the next day.

Sad to hear about your Ultima... I WISH mine had bad contact. Imagine my temps if I was currently getting poor contact and then fixed it?

Odd.... last night when I came home, my system was still running, no signal to the monitor and I couldnt resurrect it. This morning, same situation.

Ive got no Sleep or Hibernate settings turned On in Vista.... Ive bumped my Vcore back up to 1.35V just in case.

Any ideas?

Hmm I guess its possible it still wasn't entirely stable.Or its because you have Vista ;):p
Though you raising vcore 1 step may of sorted it out anyway.

Well if you want the ultimate stabilty test then run Folding@home SMP client ,I had my rig Prime95 stable for 24hrs yet when I ran F@H it errored out (EUE) within an hour!:Q ,in the end I had to raise vcore 3 steps & lower clock speed 50-100MHz!
