so finally got it goin, after recieving it with a bent stylus

bought a new one, and it came today. sounds awesome.

just one problem though, the cart/stylus manufacturer recommends a 2.5-3.5 tracking pressure. now i balanced the tone arm, but because it doesnt have the original technics headshell its gone abit wrong.

the crappy Aluminium headshell on there now is too light, and after balancing, the counter weight only turns round to 2 before it stops affecting the balance

so can i just fashion a small weight? like a small bit of metal maybe some 5p (nickle to you) coins taped together and blu-tak'd to the headshell to give it more weight?

Heh we used to tape pennies to the tonearm to play scratched 45s. I'm not sure if I would recomend doing that with a real turntable though. When you say it is too light it will not play or you just can't set the adjustment to the recommended weight?

its plays....its playing now, sounds really nice.

just the counter weight wont actually turn much past 2 because its at the end of its shaft. because the head shell is so light the counter weight was already pretty close to the tone arm, so it wouldnt turn much further when i tried to set the 2.5-3.5 recommended trackin pressure.

to be fair its a professional cartridge, so id imagine the high tracking pressure is needed because of the abuse they get put through by dj's

im just listening so it should be fine

For listening you want it as light as possible. Less wear and tear on the record that way. Want an old DiscWasher? ;)
