On the contrary, you must not know all the places here in houston huh. I am in houston and am semi satisfied with the selection here. Microcenter is pretty good, so are Best Computer USA and UBM. Some other small places that have some good finds every now and then.

I am in Houston also. I have found that no one place has the best prices for everything. Places I go to are axion(mice,kb,modem), mixpc(cdroms, cdr, dvd), directron(good for cases) and powerup(cooling). I had the chance to go to the new Frys last friday, it was huge. Some of the prices are outrageous though.

Wish they had more to choose from in San Antonio. We have ACS, and Altex. The rest are major retail type stores.. best buy.. blah blah..

Yea, I forgot to mention Directron. It is a little tricky to find, but they have some good cases and they also have other stuff too. There are lots of good places in Harwin, just watch out for rip offs or really crappy products.

PowerUp is also on Harwin. Just visit the website PowerUp for address. Also if the price is different when you walk in just tell them to look at their prices on pricewatch or their own website.

It's good too see that there is now a place hiring all non-English speaking residents of Houston and the surrounding area.

Houston has a good selection of computer places! :D

However, I have to disagree that Axiontech sucks since I can't ever seem to get them on the phone even though they screwed up on a order I placed online. :|

Hmm..I never knew Directron was in Houston! :D Hehe...time to go get a new case! :D

Houston, I think you have a problem........I got 2 Fry's here in DFW.....and guess what...I never shop them anymore.....tried shopped them 3 times and got burned...how many times? Yup, 3 times.......they sell crap......good prices....but they sell crap.....you will end up spending more gas money going back and forth because what you bought doesn't work......I have gotten better quality merchandise from mail order. Not to burn Fry's or anything.....but most of the people I hang with do not shop there either.....same reasons I mentioned.

We will be getting a Fry's here in Austin soon. It will be at Parmer Lane and MoPac where the old Builders Square used to be.

Oh yeah....I forgot how "friendly" the Customer service reps are, they think you broke what you are returning.....yes, I have been accused of that......oh, and I hope some of you speak a foreign language....you will need to learn "Fryanese" if you want any help on the sales floor.......I think they do know one phrase though....."you want?"

Locker, there is indeed. Frys bought out the old lot 6 location from The Boeing Co., and are planning to build a store there within a year.

I'd heard that too. Not far from my place. Anybody know when?

BEWARE OF FRY'S

they seem great when you first get them but soon you will realize that their prices are way too high on lots of stuff and their customer service is non-existent. ONLY buy from fry's if: 1) you have to get something right away 2)its on sale for a good price 3)you've done enough research to know that frys price is semi-competitive

*edit* oh yeah and remember, never believe what the floor reps tell you, i once when in and wask for 5 things 4 of which they told me they were out of. as i wandered around i found 3 of the items that were "sold-out" on huge end displays with hundreds of boxes available

just passing this along so you don't have to learn it the hard way...
