Yeah.... 4100 RPM is NOT normal for 65MPH; should be more like around 3000 RPM.

Thanks for filling us in on the driving impression, NFS4.

As I always say, WE NEED AN AUTOMOTIVE CATEGORY IN THE FORUMS!!! :D

Cheers,

Why, it isn't your money. You aren't gonna be driving it.

Don't take it personally NSF4, but most of us know you've been new car shopping for a while so this purchase seems very impulsive and stupid to a lot of us.
Especially for someone who knows cars pretty well.

Yeah, I wouldn't buy a brand new car model within the first six months of production. I'd prefer that someone else would suffer through the early production problems and safety recalls.

I wouldnt be worried about the RPM issue at all, mustve been the OD. Congratulations, I like the tC. And I for one, am getting sick of so many manual whores. Who gives a sh!t? If it isnt a sports car, it isnt 'necessary'. I believe that NFs4 can drive a manual, he just doesnt want to deal with it.

And just for reference, my car for the next 4+ years will be a manual Passat.

yea. plus, im guessing many people dont drive for fun. they want the most comfort and convenience they can get in their car. hence the superior AT. i definately know i think of driving as a chore, rather than a sport.

It wouldn't be a chore if I were driving an M3. But when I'm on my way to the post office or to McDonalds, I'm not thinking about shifting gears.

You KNOW I'm an advocate of autos, but my Mz3 is a manual. After moving to where I'm at and where I have to drive - mountains of northern AZ - I couldn't handle having an auto 4 banger. You get onto some of those mountain passes and the autotrannies can't figure out what gear they want to stay in. When I'm heading up you lock it in 3rd and run it till it levels out. I did a mountain run with a bunch of other Mazda owners and the autotranny owners just got left in the dust because they couldn't hold a gear going around the corners while going uphill.

I know my post probably has zero impact on where you live, but for where I'm at the 5 speed has been a godsend. Truth is - if I had stayed in Iowa I would have probably chosen an auto.

Well, I did have the seat pretty upright. I'm sure there would be more room if you tilted the seat back some more. I just like having a clear view of the road.

Well in your situation it obviously makes sense to have a manual.

I also drove almost the same car saturday, no spoiler or exhaust though.
I was impressed how quiet it was and how well it handled, not as well as my lowered celica though.
The 2.4 cyl pulled well it was nice to drive it in something other than our Highlander for a change. I love the sunroof , very nice.
This will probably be my next car as soon as the lease is up on the Celica, Flint Mica, rear spoiler, fog lights, and side-curtain air bags and security system.
All in all , I liked it alot, but what can you expect from a Toyota fanboy??????

Depends on the car company I think.

The 5 speed auto on my MDX is by far the smartest auto I've ever driven. It's far better than the supposed learning 5AT on my former GS300. The tranny always seems to pick the right gear and never has to hunt. It also seems to know exactly when to upshift when I want it to.

that's it? i thought it was a 95?

Yup, '95. When I got the car in Feb of '00, it had 79,000 miles on it. I've put on 66,000 miles in a little over 4 years. So that's about 16,500 miles a year.

LOL :p:beer:

Hey, it was my first time in the car. The Scion "salesman" should have pointed it out when I inquired about it holding third, but instead he gave some BS answer about VV-T :p

Oh it doesn't at all.
Just from all your car threads, I thought you would've gone for the 5 speed.
