I already flamed NSF4 for his auto driving. After owning one for 2 years I tend to agree that it is sometimes a pain in the ass.

But if you're driving a 4 banger, a stickshift is almost a necessity. You get no power otherwise.

Besides it already sounds like that auto you test drove was having problems.

Also whatever happened to the common sense logic of not buying a car during its first model year run?

4100 @ highway speeds is VERY high. Hell, that's high compared to my tranny which is a fairly close-ratio 5 speed.

Wow that is high for both cars! My 4 banger Passat is just under 3,000 RPMs at 80 mph (It is a 5 speed auto though). Our 2003 Corolla also gets 80 mph at 3,000 (4 speed auto)

NFS4 can drive a stick :)

something tells me that NFS is pseudo-car-enthusiat....
every single car guy taht i know has manual DD (unless its an SUV), can't handle 3 pedals with 2 feel ? :D

80% - 85% of cars sold today are automatics. The entire alotment of tCs at that dealership are automatics.

And try selling a manual transmission car after you're done with it. Good luck!!!! :p My dad had a 5-speed vehicle a while back and when he put an ad in the paper to sell it, when the people found out it was a 5-speed, they kindly said no thanks

I seriously think the trannie was borked. Don't know WTF happened to it, but he said that ever since the car came in, they've had a steady stream of people test driving it a day (close to 15 people a day for a week).

Gee, great car you're buying there. Been driven 90 times and the tranny is broken...

I thought that I had the trannie stuck in (2) or something, but that wasn't the case.

And 80-85% of people are not car enthusiasts :D If you're selling a 5 speed to the slushbox driving lifeless sheep in this world it will be a tough sale, but similarly if you're selling a slushbox to somebody who wants a 5 speed, you'll just not get a sale. The market is, in this sense, basically two markets. Some people refuse to drive a 5 speed, and others refuse to drive an automatic. I'd have had to get an outrageous deal on either of my cars to have considered driving an autotragic.

You don't even sound like you like the car, yet, you are going to get it anyway?

The car comes fully loaded. The only options are manual vs automatic or side airbags vs no side airbags. Everything else is TRD stuff.

Hey what's wrong with a Tiburon? But let's not start another Hyundai flame war inside NFS's thread.

lol does anyone here think he's actually making a good decision here?

Don't take it personally NSF4, but most of us know you've been new car shopping for a while so this purchase seems very impulsive and stupid to a lot of us.
Especially for someone who knows cars pretty well.

I agree. The review basically said mediocre, mediocre, medicore... so I'm going to buy it.

I think NFS4 may be a woman. :)

Seriously dude, just admit that it's an ok car but you're buying it for the looks. We'll understand.

Congrats on the soon-to-be new wheels. I'm not sure why every idiot in this thread is deciding how to spend your money. Oh wait, it's ATOT.

He's hinted for a while that he's looking to replace his 95' Camry.

For a while, he wanted the Mazda 3 and now this.

We all know deep down inside, he lusts after a VW Cabriolet convertible (made in Mexico) :p

Agreed!

My Miata does 75mph in 5th gear at 3,900rpm.

1.6L 4-cylinder with 116 HP (@6500) / 100 lbs.-ft. torque (@5500) with 5-speed manual.

(1) I said that the trannie was acting funny...that's something maybe specific to just that particular demo
(2) I said performance was adequate. VERY comparable to the Mazda 3s. It's just as fast as anything else in this class and definitely quicker than my GF's '04 Civic EX which is GUTLESS and cost just as much as this tC
(3) Headroom. As long as my head isn't touching up front, I could care less. My head didn't touch with the hat, and I don't normally wear a hat when I drive anyway. F*&k the people in the back seat :p
(4) Everything else was superb.
