This guy is pretty hardcore.

This guy is pretty amazing and must be dedicated judging buy the plain bed, Angus Young Signature Edition SG, and the Monsters of Rock poster on the wall. Most people who try and play Angus's solo's can barely get the notes, let alone the vibrato and the "finesse". I would love to see this guy play the You Shook Me All Night Long solo.

Enjoy :D

angus has admitted many times than his brother, malcom, is the superior guitar player. AC/DC solos are certainly fun things, but he's a sloppy player.

cool vid though

Sloppy or not.....Angus has emotion!

That video is great. Guy defnitely has a passion for the blues style solo's.

Not trying to start a flame war (as everyone is entitled to their opinion....and I respect that) but the same could be said of David Gilmour from Pink Floyd (another of my favorites). He probably isn't the most technically correct guitar player (nor the fastest) but I would put one of his (or angus') solos up against most other pros as far as conveyance (sp?) of emotion goes. Gilmour says a LOT with a few notes where people like Yngwie (who I also like and respect) say very little with a whole LOT of notes.

As far as I'm concerned, I couldn't care less about 'technicality' or 'sloppiness'. As long as it sounds good and helps the listener understand the mood/feelling of the song, I'm all for it.

Well said.

My opinion is that Hendrix was a god with the guitar, but I still do not like is work. Why? It sounds like meaningless notes for the sake of trying to play something cool.

i totally agree with pretty much everything you said (though i do despise Floyd - they bore me to tears). i was just perplexed by the OP's impression that most people can't "get the notes" of angus' solos and that he has awesome vibrato and finesse. i think the appeal of angus (and AC/DC as a whole) is their manic passion for simple, dirty blues/rock.

hendrix is another guy who tended to be sloppy, but he's so respected and influential because he was creative and forward thinking.

Yep, I agree... I think it's just what you prefer. I'm more of a fan of the slower, darker rock like Floyd but still a fan of Angus. Oh, and that guy in the OP has crazy skill!

Here's a vid of the type of darker rock I like. Coheed: Claudio with the really nice guitar solo on the top of his head. Text

Where did I say that Angus Young's solos are the most amazing hardest thing ever? No I didn't. In fact, I know they are pretty technically simple. But, if you go look online videos of people trying to play Angus Young they fail horribly, because they do not have the finesse, and when they attempt his style they get out of tune and miss notes, and sound absolutely nothing like him.

i've never been a fan of angus (blues rock is just plain dead these days, RIP), but that was definetely excellent guitar playing.

my favorite guitar player will probably always be billy corgan because he brings the intensity and train-off-the-tracks craziness of many of the great blues-rock players, but completely avoids all those tired blues cliches. he rarely if ever uses a straight minor pentatonic, and NEVER uses "riffs." it's all very melodic and song-driven, and often he uses major keys, which sound very fresh compared to all that blues stuff we all learn when we're first learning guitar. and if you think about it, he pretty much single-handedly changed the face of rock guitar, since there is a very clear line between pre-pumpkins guitar solos and post-pumpkins guitar solos in modern rock bands. right up through grunge, solos were still blues-based, and then here comes billy corgan with the "cherub rock" solo in 1993, and suddenly blues-rock is dead as a doorknob. in that respect, there have probably been only two other guitarists who have shaped rock music to that degree: hendrix and eddie van halen.

Go tell that to the people that made AC/DC's 2003 Toronto concert sell out in 4 minutes. ;)

Im pretty sure ACDC is the most overrated band in history. They play like crap, look like crap and the lead singers couldnt sing for sh!t. On top of all that their songs are the most overplayed trash in the world. /thread crap

I will respectfully disagree with everything in bold and I will stop right there ;)

When the door hits you on the way out, be sure not to drop your Backstreet Boys poster.

One quik question, you ever notice how the stupider and drunker someone is the more they like ACDC?
