Finally see an E4300 for sale

I dont see that happening anytime soon.....the fact of the matter the E4300 is basically an E6300 but a hair bit slower in clock speed. If anything its price should be close to the E6300, it is going to be very difficult to keep this chip in stock and it will canibalize E6300 sales IMO...
 
Yeah i suspect this is gonna be another Pentium D 805 stunt.

Still costs more here for an 805 than 820/920, etc., purely because of demand.

The reseller ratings on Page and TD are horrible. But ZZF costs about $20 more after shipping. Depends if you want to roll the dice, I guess.

Shouldn't NewEgg have some by now? I really would like to order from them...
 
Page is kinda sketchy on customer service... I just got a Samsung Sata dvd burner that is in high demand and OOS all the time at NewEgg from them. Their site didnt say it was OEM but it certainly came packaged like one. Also, I tried for three days to get hold of someone to find out if my order was filled or not as the day after I placed my order it said out of stock there too. No email response until the day before I received it. Phone calls are not returned if you can even leave a message... despite that though they did deliver it when everyone else was out....

Depends on your reason for getting the E4300.
I would rather pick up an E4300 (difference is like £2.35~$4.50 between the E4300 and E6300, retail vs OEM, but I would get a 3rd party heatsink anyway) because the 4300 has a higher multiplier, so a cheaper mobo and cheaper RAM will be OK for it when I overclock.

The E6300 has the advantage of supporting some features I don't use (VT etc), and a very slightly higher clock speed, but the multiplier on the E4300 makes it more valuable. The E6400 is like $35/$65 more than the E4300 :Q

Hopefully we will see OEM E4300's coming soon, and pushing prices even lower, but for now the chip is cheaper than the E6300 OEM, and it has a higher multiplier, which makes it a better overclocker.
 
The sad fact is I dont see a lot of OEM parts period....The few I can find are from sellers that if you read your ratings you are scared shitless to buy from them.

I would like to see more oEMs being sold at places like newegg for -30 off the retail prices....I dont us the retail heatsink, I OC so I wont use the warranty either....just is a waste of cash...
 
good to see this chip finally go on sale. I would say the main reason for it is OC friendliness. Just need regular DDR2-800 and a relatively cheap mb to get some good results. However if you planning on mb that is capable of 450+ then it's less valuable.

I am also looking at 775dual but dont really need it until later part of the year when e4400 is out. I might get that instead for even higher multiplier.
 
Well even with the E4300 a 400fsb board will garner you 3.6ghz which from early results I dont see most of these chips getting to with out 1.5-1.55v....Likely most will only need 9x356 for 3.2ghz or 9x378 for 3.4ghz....only a few will get to 3.6ghz with 9x400 and I dont think most anyone is going to get 9x450=4050mhz out of it.

So i think even a modest priced Asus P5B can be effective. Gigabyte S3 from my experience can give you close to 500fsb. The DS3 in my case a hair below that at 470fsb.

Now the Asus i650 mobo may be a nice option plus it has dividers that will allow you to run less then 1:1 ratios so you can get away with less on the memory speed. Which IMO holds most people back with these chips anyways.

I am going to order a 650i to do some testing with.
 
Oh, I didn't know the E4300 is actually launched now, yay this is cool. It costs nearly as much as an E6300 here in Canada ugh, though even at that price it could be worth it.
 
The difference in buying PC6400 versus PC8000 is enough to be worth it.....

I really believe this chip is going to cannibalize E6300 sales and I bet some of the greedy etailers like newegg will start asking for 200 for it. I mean I dont use VT and the 9x multiplier will make ocing easier without the components of the motherboard and memory inhibiting it.

Well I think you will be correct on both assumptions that it will be in high demand and egg will go for a knockout punch in pricing it at least in the first couple of months. But you know they've got to make money on ya while they can like on a chip we all really want.

Where does it fall? Below or equal to the E6300?
What about when it is OCed? Can it rival a E6600 (minus the extra cache) or better?

The lower than 1:1 ratios is something I've wondered about. Say for the P965 motherboards, why is it that my DS3 doesn't have a ratio below 1:1?? Is it a chipset limitation or a BIOS limitation (ie. they haven't implemented it)?

I kinda disagree with the idea of running lower than 1:1 being a great thing though, as it starts to kill performance on C2Ds when you run lower than 1:1.

I guess heavily OCed lower than 1:1 will obviously still destroy lower clocks @ 1:1, but with E4300s out now, those who are too cheap to want to spend a lot on Micron D9xxx don't have to (& i kinda don't blame them).

On the entry-level dual core market, besides Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 (1.8 GHz/2MB L2/800MHz FSB), which will be launched on Jan 21 2007, there is another E4400 (2 GHz/2MB L2/800MHz FSB) coming in Q2 2007 set at a price of $133. On the day of E4400?s launch and onward, E4300 will has a new price from $163 to $113, a 30.7% off.

So what do you guys think is a better choice to go with? A 4300 or 6300? Seem to be the same price. I do plan on overclocking.
 
Why not wait for a 4400 and pair that up with a Gigabyte S3 rev 3.3 ?? Admittedly, neither is currently available, but I'm in the process of saving up for a C2D,965 board and DDR800 RAM. Total will be $550, so it isn't easy getting that saved up, but that's a helluva rig once built too.
Higher multi on the 4400, rev 3.3 board supports 1333 ... what am I missing here ? Unless you really want to buy now, I'd hold off on things.

The board will be available in mid-February, the 4400 I'll guess in late April, early May.
 
I think I might wait until the E4300 with 45nm process come out. I'm guessing by mid year since samples are already running code. By then mobos should be more mature and everything will fall into place.
