Ok...so I saw it...and I actually really liked it. One question though :

What did the oracle do DIFFERENT this time around ?

The architect made it seem like the Oracle had been sneaky...or "played a game" this time around.

It seems as though the Oracle was acting like most programs. She didnt want to be deleted. Since her role in the system is to deal with the humans...if the machines decide humans arent worth the trouble then the Oracle will be deleted.

But still....what did she do differently this time ?

You JUST saw it? Wanted to wait until the lines died down, huh?

I'm not sure what you're talking about the "sneaky" part, but I don't think she was against being deleted. On the contrary, it seems like she knew her role and let them take over her body willingly.

so this "round" was just like all the rest ?

Everything played out as usual ?

The actor who played the oracle in the earlier movies died so they had to come up with some lame a$$ change.
I didn't get it.

Oh, you're talking about how she changed bodies and such? Yeah, that was because the old Oracle in real life died...

I'll give this a shot:

The Oracle's role was to manipulate the One and lead him back to the Architect so that they could reload the Matrix and rebuild Zion. This has happened like clockwork in the past versions of the Matrix - a never-ending cycle. The Oracle was getting sick of the war and instead manipulated Neo to form a truce with the machines.

In the past, the One was destroyed and Matrix reloaded before Smith had the opportunity to do any damage to the Matrix. In this version, Smith grew and spread until he became powerful enough to destroy the Matrix and infect the machines in the real world. If Neo happened to die on the way to the machine city, Smith would have been unchecked to destroy pretty much everything. This was the "dangerous game." If Neo failed, everybody was toast.

This round was not like the rest. The Oracle ultimately was a program designed to make the Matrix "better" by eliminating the "anomaly" which was Smith/Neo. Except this "round" is an evolution for the Matrix, because now machines can "emulate" love b/c of Neo (Neo was obviously human who had "The One" program uploaded into him by the Oracle). And since Neo chose love (Trinity) instead of resetting the Matrix (in the 2nd one) Zion wasn't destroyed and Neo saved the human race b/c humans can now leave the Matrix if they choose to (how this happens was never explained). Hence now we finally have a coexistence of humans and machines where both sides are happy.

Simple Answer:
Because the woman who played The Oracle in the first 2 films passed away :(

Complex Answer:
Some crap about changing appearances due to things going different, probably something that had to be written in at a late stage in the game (hence why the bits with the new Oracle sucked)

The plot of the third movie had absolutely nothing to do with there being a new actress for the Oracle. If you listen to her first scene in Revolutions she explains that she's "changed" because of a past decision (her decision to smoke). Her comment, "... and here I am, at it again." was in regards to her lighting up another cigarette. She chose to smoke in real life, and she paid the ultimate price - she died of lung cancer. The new character playing the Oracle made the same decision and smokes as well.

That scene wasn't meant to progress the plot, only to give a quick synopsis of why the Oracle was now a different person.
