I first install XP on this system like 2 years ago at least (not sure of exact date).

Since then I have upgraded my motherboard twice, cpu's 4 times, video card twice, and practically every part of the system at least 2 times, and never re-installed windows...

XP > 98, etc , so much less hassle heh

Been using 98SE since it was released. Upgraded a few times since of course, and NEVER reinstalled. It still doesn't crash and boots up and shuts down a helluva lot quicker than my son's PCs with XP on 'em. Maybe someday you guys will get this stuff figured out!

No, two of our PCs (mine and my wife's) have 98SE on them. Two (my son's), have XP on them.

I don't reinstall until I replace all my hardware. It comes out to be roughly 12-18 months anyways.

appaling but true, i have not had to reinstall ANY win2000 and winXP machine
due to fault of the OS.

I did have to do it a few times at work due to hdd failure, mobo failure, end user major fock-up
