Agreed, ppi alone isn't a valuable metric, the viewing distance is just as important. 250+ ppi on a tv set are overshooting it. But current 100~120 ppi feel lacking for pc monitors, no matter if the monitor is 22" or 27".
And I like to point out, that CES isn't representing what consumers want, but, what companies think the market should buy from them. Over the years plenty of CES-hyped gadgets failed miserably or were altered until the marked responded.
