Looks like my group is finally going from two-way (and in some cases, one-way) alphanumeric pagers...

...to these. :beer::thumbsup:😀

Merry Xmas to me! Any firsthand experiences with this model?

had one for over a year. If you like carrying a brick on your waist, this is it!!

Ok reception, have to charge it every day.

Its a good unit though.

I got tired of lugging mine around and went with a razor. I did get pages on it though and they came in clear and fast.

Interesting thread. We are currently looking at ditching our Nextel service at work and moving to Verizon. This is the phone my boss is looking at.

DukeN - What didn't you like about the interface? Some of the reviews I've read said that there is a small learning curve but once you learn the shortcuts it works pretty well. What kind of battery life were you expecting vs. actual?

I believe we'll be on Verizon as well. I really hope they don't tighten the pursestrings last-minute and deny us EVDO 😀

To everyone bashing in this thread so far: I didn't pay for it so I really don't care... free toys are the best toys 😉

It just makes you do more b!tchwork than you already have. Constantly checking emails, responding to alarms, and what not. Congratulations, you have all the tools to be a 24/7 IT slave.

Brilliant insight... too bad I'm not in IT.

Thanks for playing though.

Let me just say that a Windows Mobile 5.0 phone utilizing DirectPush and wireless ActiveSync makes my job as an IT Consultant so much easier.

I love my Cingular 8525 (HTC TyTN). My only complaint is the battery life. Other than that, it does everything.

I detested the MobileOS while we had i930s deployed. The Qs are much better. I still prefer my Crackberry though.

I just got the same phone from sprint, and while it is big and bulky it's really not that bad. It's not the greatest phone in reception and quality, but it's still pretty good. You can use the phone for IMing, ssh, web browsing, gps, taking notes, etc. It's a feature rich phone but it's not without it's quirks. Luckily there are lots of fixes and extra software for them from third party vendors and the evdo ring though issue just got fixed in the latest firmware release.

I remember when I was young and full of piss n vinegar and all excited and happy to "get" to carry a pager and think it was a Christmas present to get upgraded to the newest cool gizmo on the market.

Those days have loooong gone. At this point they could hand me the keys to the Enterprise and if they even so much as went "chirp" I'd throw them in the deepest ocean I could find.

For me it is great. My clients can reach me and I can get back to them instantly. If I need to see my schedule, it is there. If I change it, it changes on the Exchange server.

It's awesome when you WANT people to have access to you. When you bill at my rate, you want people to have access to you. 😀
