finally narrowed it down to two D600 vs C-400

these two laptops cost the exact same about from dell small business. i'm not sure whuch to get. i dont care about gaming, just battery life and weight. all i'm gonna use this for is surfing the net, email, notes in class, mp3, and DVD

i'm leaning towards the C-400 at the moment. the only real drawback is the PC-133 Sodimms are very expensive compared to PC-2100 sodimms

HELP ME DECIDE !!!

Wait around for the 10% or 15% coupon. I think the next promotion that Dell is gonna give is a free DVD drive. With that, you can save 50 bucks upgrading from a CD. CAll them to stack your coupon on top of what they are already offering at the site. That's how I got my laptop down to 1060++ plus tax.

You know that I have a D600, I saw the X300 and it's one of the sweetest laptop I have ever seen. If portability is your HIGHEST priority, I would do the C400 but the upgrade options on the D600 are better. You can get the Trumobile 1300 card from Dell for free if you go the D600 Route and 1.6Ghz is just a 50 dollars upgrade too. Get the 40Gb 5400 Rpm Hdd for another 50 bucks. It's a Seagate drive with 8mb of cache. It's worth the upgrade.

As for your mp3 option, the CPU is always or near 100% whenever I'm on battery mode, I would imagine what it's like with a p3 CPU then.
