Not shabby at all. I don't have HD programming right now so I'm using an OTA antenna.
The blacks are as black as they can get. The colors are so vivid and vibrant and the picture doesn't disappoint.
I probably need to have the tv calibrated though. The Oppo dvd player doesn't really do HD justice. I have the Toshiba HD-A2 on order so I'll wait for that.

Pics.

To tell you the truth, I'm new to this game. The tv is simply hooked up to an amplified indoor antenna. The dish network installer will be here on Sat to set the programming up.

Damn you op!

I fed my credit cards to my mastiff to keep from ordering that set. You can find it from some online dealers for about $2500 shipped. That is less than the new 700u Pannys.

I am waiting until September when the 1080p sets come out. I figure the dog will pass the credit cards by then. :)

I got it from InvisionDisplays for 2640 shipped.
I figured that I didn't really need the 1080p since that would've been out of my budget. Also it was hard for me to wait that long :). This tv however doesn't disappoint. I'm very happy with the purchase.

If you bought from Invision, then you're probably a frequenter of avsforum.com

There's a good thread in the display forum over there dedicated to the video calibration settings for these models (I know it covers the 5070 which I have... I'm guessing the 5080 is an updated model). The settings were definitely great on my set.

I'm jealous. I almost splurged on a TV until I looked deeper and found out my country (one above yours) doesn't support 'free' HD, and we're too cheap to rent the dang cable box. Oh, and I 'invested' in a 2407 and motorcycle lessons instead...

You are pretty close to NY. You might have been able to pick something up.

I'm really interested in this TV. By any chance, do you plan on using it with a computer (an HTPC)?

Not yet. I'm planning to put together a mythtv box within a couple of months or so. I need my wallet to recover a bit before I delve into that.

Thanks. I'm still breaking it in right now with the settings posted on avsforum. I love this tv and it doesn't disappoint.
