Very excited. See sig for specs. Posts at 1050MHz at 1.65v. Haven't upped the voltage yet at 140 FSB. May try this week. This chip rocks !

Congratulations. What PIII do you have? S-spec and FPO? What CAS latency are you running your RAM?

yea, I'm in the 1GHz club too, but it's getting old. Now there's nothing for me to do to my system. No more upgrades, no more thermal grease application, no more ordering heatsink/fan combo, and no more rewiring of cables.

I probably won't be upgrading for months and months. oh well, such is life.

I recently got my 650E to boot into Windows at 1079MHz with 1.95V and actually remain stable for about 30 minutes before locking. This is on a 166MHz bus with the HSDRAM at 166MHz 3-2-2. It was wicked fast!

Pic of CPU at 1079MHz

My 650 can run forever at 1026MHz, but I have it at 1021MHz to make absolutly sure it's stable (the beauty of 1MHz bus steppings on the i815).

when did you buy that 650, I want to buy the cheapest P3 that I cant hat will do 1Ghz. I was wondering if you think most of the 650's will hit 1Ghz.

My P3 750 came from buy.com and is cB0 stepping. Rock solid stable at 1002MHz at 1.70 volts. Runs 36-38 C under full load with Golden Orb and Radio Shack thermal grease. My case is heavily modified for airflow. Case temp usually 25 C. The ram is at CAS 3. Won't do CAS 2 at this speed unfortunately.

I agree with MoneyMINTR, what next? Maybe a new sound card :)

Fingers,
A 650 can make it over 1GHz, just like some 700s, 750s, 800s, ect. do. They are all made with the same core. The major factor that keeps a lot of people with 650 cB0s from getting over 1GHz is the memory and bus speeds. I have 128MB of double sided HSDRAM in an MSI i815E Pro motherboard, so thats why I'm able to boot with a FSB/Memory speed as high as 166MHz.

I like the 650 cB0 more than the other chips. I get the added bonus of having a higher memory and bus clock speed.

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot... I bought the CPU about two or three weeks ago.

okay thanks thats cool. I knew they had the same cores, but i didn't know the chances of getting that high with one.
