I got my free educational edition of Win2k Pro last year. But I had a stupid STB TV PCI card that doesn't have Win2K drivers. Now that I got a PCTV PRO, I've abandoned ship. I was getting sick and tired of iexplorer crashing every freaking 15 mins. Here's a question: I have the win2k sp1 should I installed it? It seems like iexplorer is less stable with sp1 from experience on my dad's comp. Thanks.
Update:: This really SUCKS. Both my PCTV Pro and STB PCI TV PCI have incredible resolution and picture quality in Win98 SE. I have my DVD player connnected to my Tuner card via S-Video cable. To get even more amazing resolution, I use dTV (deinterlaced TV from deinterlace.sourceforge.net). However, once I moved up to Win2k, the resolution dropped dramatically for both the PCTV software and 3dfx TV software (I actually got STB TV PCI working in win2k). I had sp1 and dx8 and tried the latest video driver (Leadtek S320II TNT2) and the latest nVidia ref. driver. dTV still gives me amazing resolutions, but it crashes often in Win2K. Resolution lost was the greatest via the S-video input (my Apex 600A). DVDs now looks worst than TV broadcast. Pictures now have jagged edges. DVD play back now looks like software DVD playback. Well, I can't stand this lack of resolution. So I went back to Win98 SE. This sucks.
