Finally identified a cool car from my past.

Been wondering these last couple of years what was the brand of car that had been struck by lightning near my home around 1970. All I remembered was the cool distinctive rear angle of the roof. Well, as I was surfing television channels tonight, I came across a scene from a Harry Potter movie that had a flying example of it. That allowed me to find it's a Ford Anglia. Gotta love a mystery solved!😎

I don't think we ever saw those in the USA, when I was growing up, and I don't think you're much older than me. 😉

What the hell is it...an Anglia? If so, I guess it was appropriately named. 🙂

I think they look cool. That car was parked near our apartment, maybe 200' away when the bolt struck. Huge thunder sound then flames, the tyres were all burnt up.

actually i kind of have a soft spot for trabants. not that i'd drive one though.

They were never sold in the USA but a few made their way here when people moved back to the states after living abroad. That is how my dad brought back a Peugot in 1970 that was not offered here either. You could import one if you wanted but the Anglia was not something geared towards the American market. It was an European econo-box. You have to remember that gasoline was around $2US a gallon in Europe in the late 60s early 70s. Kind of puts things in perspective, doesn't it?
