I have a report due tommroow, and I have been trying to get my color printer (epson stylus color 400 - I know its a peice of crap from 1998) to print me a few color images. I finally succeded in printing something that looks remotely colored. I changed the cartridges to a new set and it wasnt printing yellow or black. The previous cartridge wasnt printing blue or black, so I replaced both. Then came the truth of seeing that this new cartridge was useless.. I had to clean the head so many fscking times.. On top the cartridge eject button thing doesnt seem to work, it resets teh printer. SO I had to reset it and then pull the plug to access the cartridge.

Here is my question.. what do I do with this peice of crap. Its actually my brothers, so I will let him keep it, I am happy for B&W prints with my LaserJet. However when color does become a need I would need a color printer..

What should I get.. I will need one soon.. I got so many projects due in color that I really need a printer that can print color nicely.I do not want to spend too much though. 100 bucks max. I know those nice HP printers are awesome in print quality, but I dont need something like that for occasional use after this semester. How are teh lexmark printers? I found one for 49 bucks today at staples.

thanks TGG

Lexmark printers may not be the best quality, but if you're only doing occasional printing for school projects it should work fine. Be cautious of expensive cart refills... some printer companies sell the printers below cost, hoping that they'll make a fortune on proprietary ink. Although you may find that cheaper generic carts work just as well as, if not better then, the name brand ink - using them may void your warranty.
