My dad went to CC this morning to try and get that TV. He said the line to get in the door snaked around through the parking lot, which was to be expected. He said they had no crowd control at all and when they opened the doors, it was just a mad dash to the TVs, people pushing and shoving and all that. He was going to get a TV but they were all gone within 3 or 4 minutes of the store opening. I went to Best Buy last year and they do a good job of dealing with the crowd; from what it sounds like, the CC here did a very poor job. Out of curiosity, how was it at your store?

We had about 300-400 people outside the store when it opened.... We were well prepared though and had managers/associates in strategic positions around the store, very organized and civilized.

Of course we had a few people run when the doors opened, but its to be expected. Most of the big ticket items were gone very quickly, even though we had 20-30 of them in stock (i.e. laptops)

Sounds like your store was a lot better-organized than the store here.

Black Friday. The day after Thanksgiving. A traditional mark-down retail day for people to buy all their Christmas gifts. It can bring a retail company out of the red and into the green on the charts.

And I slept in this morning, thus not contributing to the stores bottom line.

Sorry, just didn't see anything that really said, "Buy me or else"

I had a long day too. Of course, I was shopping, not working.
Started at Walmart at 6:00am. Then Big 5, Target, Fred Meyer, Staples, Costco, Mervyns.
I got pretty much all the things I was looking for. Mostly toys for the kids.
Drove by CC at around 9am, but there was still a line outside just to get in the door, so I didn't bother stopping.

Walmart was the worst. Narrow aisles with tons of rude people pushing their way around. Everywhere else was pretty orderly and calm with fairly short lines. But all in all, I figure I got 90% of my christmas shopping done and saved at least $200. So it was definitely worth it.

Not too bad of a shift, 5:15am - 8:00pm :roll;

Whew, whatta long day. I was pleasently surprized though, 98% of the customers were a delight to deal with today (more than i expected). Even though we were runnin 35-45min lines on every register in the store, people waited calmly and were quite pleasent to deal with.

Only one major whiner who felt it was *duty* to tell me how much of a moron i was since we were sold out of the $649 laptops, even though they sold out 20 mins after the store opened (at 6am), and how i *owed* her something in return. She didnt stop bitching the whole time i was ringing her up for stuff, just blabbering on and on. It was tough to hold back the laughter.

So anyway, now that im totally worn, how was everyone elses day?

do you guys get lunch on days like this?

I got a 10 minute break around 2 and ate some sandwiches/lunchmeats the mgmt got for us in the back.....

wtf?! i got an hour lunch.. we always do when we work 9 hours or more.. ims orry 🙁

anytime a twit starts complaining to you like your a ceo, kindly tell them your working for minimum wage because that keeps customers like her happy. that customers aren't willing to pay more for customer service😛

i remember when i used to work retail i hated those people.

I make a slightly more than MW...however this lady tried yelling at me today because she wanted someone to ring her up so she didnt have to wait in line. I simply pointed at the 200 people in line ahead of her, and asked her what made her more important than the rest of the poor bastards waiting in line.

She didnt have an answer

ugh.. i hate those people. we have a huge line and people just come straight the the register. and im like "were you waiting in line sir/maam?" and they look at the line and then back and me and say "no." .... and dont move. so i say "well.. could you please go stand in line?" and if they dont i just ignored them and tell the other cashiers. its so stupid... just because theyre only getting something little or theyre old or something they shouldnt have to wait in line. there were all kinds of people just wanting to pay their penneys bill. i was like "HEY@ HOW ABOUT YOU COME ON A DAY THATS *NOT* THE BUSIEST SHOPPING DAY OF THE FVCKING YEAR!" and that is the end of my story.
