Finally graduated!

Yeah, I know it's not that big of a deal but I'm happy. It started in the fall of 1998, and finally I have my CS degree. Why 7 years? I pretty much worked my way through it, and have $0 of student loans to pay off, and 4 years of relevant work experience. I believe I also started posting on Anandtech when I started University... strange correlation.

I have to say it's going to feel strange next fall when I won't be attending classes.

<opinionated rant>There are way too many people in CS that are in it for the money. I couldn't believe how little some of my classmates knew about general computer knowledge. I never got super duper grades but at a common sense level, I felt that I surpassed even the biggest brainiacs in class</opinionated rant>

Congrats. I finished up 48 hours ago with the same degree, took 5 years. Also have no debt and lots of experience, though now I wish I had more corporate time and less of the more lucrative contract experience.

I'm currently 2nd in charge for a small web-hosting company. I've been here for almost 4 years and getting a decent salary. I'm looking for a new line of work where I can work with more experienced programming veterans though.

Congrats! Don't feel bad about 7 years. I have you beat; I started fall of '97

And I've gotten 5+ years of full-time work experience to complement the school load, so it's definitely been a ride. I'll finish this semester as well (some time mid-May), but unfortunately, my degrees won't be as prestigious as CS: BA in Linguistics, BA in Japanese, and a minor in Business.

All in all, congrats again (and to both of us, haha).

Next up: B-school!
