palm pre 2 will be half useless for you, because it wont support AWS like tmobile uses, so you'll be stuck on edge/2G the entire time. mytouch 4G is decent, but you're right, it looks ugly and if there is no HSPA+ in your area, its not worth it. i would also just count out the samsung vibrant, because the nexus S is the same thing, but with stock 2.3 gingerbread installed (and you'll have a fully unlocked phone with up to the minute updates from google). HD7 is nice, but it has an immature os on it (but with loads of potential).

i think your best bet is either the G2, nexus S, or HD7. it is a little big, but hey, its a decent phone with a new os.

I'm planning on finally switching from AT&T to T-mobile, and can probably get a new smartphone. Any suggestions on which one to get?

T-Mobile actually has the best coverage where I live most of the year, although in parts of jersey it completely disappears. I'm not dead set on T-mobile, but verizon is generally a bit more expensive, and it's not like they are that much faster, although their service is decent. Sprint, maybe.

Anyway, I'd primarily use my phone to listen to music, and surf the web. Business use would be rare.

The G2 seems decent with a physical keyboard and android, but the processor is a bit slower, and I'm not sure how it will hold up over two more years. MyTouch 4g looks ugly, and I don't even get 4g in my area so far as I know. The entire class of Galaxy S phones look ugly too, although if the performance is that good I'll consider it.

Any thoughts on the upcoming palm pre 2? I've really wanted to try WebOS, but it seems to be cdma only.

At the same time, I see a bunch of new stuff coming out perhaps Q1 2011 so I'm not sure if I should wait for a better phone because I keep my phone for a while; I'm still on my 1st gen iphone.

You can overlock G2 and other one is mytouch 4G...take your pick

if you have android, you need to root it. Stock is a big meh. for the brief 6 weeks I had CM6 on it, I actually didn't mind all the force closes, and the "accident dials" on my EVO 4G, just because the speed was so fast on it! I did loose the 4G though, so when I heard that HTC removed the 30 FPS cap on it, I unrooted (which of which i wouldn't go through AGAIN) and wow... How I hate my EVO phone... I even bought launcher pro plus, to try to "simulate" the speed of CM6... no bueno.

If you're into rooting, then get an android. Otherwise, wait for iPhone 4 or get the Dell Venue Pro!

g2 and mt4g are both faster stock than the evo
