Finally got the call, got the job with customs......and a comment to the liberal who posted

Its offical, they called me before i went away on thursday and i got the job.

Gonna be a U.S. Customs Inspector................hopefully in a year be a special agent.


If you fly through NY on international flights, let me know so i can bust your cojones.

What kind of education, backround, military do you have and what grade did you get in as a GS-07. I am thinking fo xfering over from the FAA where I am at to Customs but I haven't seen many 12 or 13 jobs in the New England area. BTW I am a 12 now so I at least want to lat move in.

I usually fly out of the country every other year to Europe and I will have to say that the US Customs are hands down the biggest dicks. Not only are they mean and grouchy, they attempt to ruin your vacation by making you open your luggage and go through your belongings. When the plane lands, let me pick up my luggage and go home.

No I'm not confused. They are dicks. This crap never happens in Europe plus they are somewhat friendly there. These guys in the US take bitter and angry to a new level.

the 'customs' in England were a bunch of pricks. bitter and angry, yes they were. the US Customs agents i ran into were all pretty cool.

Nobody likes being hassled, and nobody really likes hassling people either. The good agents I have talked to in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada manage to be polite, so long as YOU are polite, even when going through all your stuff.
Just be patient and polite, and it will go easier for you in any country. after all, how many total asses do these "defenders of the border" have to put up with each day? You may talk to two or three, tops, and they get to see thousands.

The customs guys in Italy stole over 2000 dollars worth of camera equipment from my dad. That doesn't sound like "somewhat friendly"... unless you and I have very different definitions of being friendly.

Seems like it. But keep in mind in order to be conservative, you have to complain a lot and maintain a level angerness. Some liberals are the same way...but those symptions (conditions?) are seemingly much more prevelant among conservatives.

I used to be the exact same way though my late 20's while I was a conservative. Then I decided I wanted to be more happy and have become a moderate.
