I have been looking for weeks. I finally found a professional installer who was selling his personal table because his dad game him his. The table was in great shape and was moved as part of the deal. He also included premium Aramith balls.

Woohoo!

Nice, if I had a pool table, I would get absolutely nothing productive done. What kind of cue do you have?

In fact I don't have one right now - I am borrowing a friend's cue until I get my own.

I know a guy who installs table for a living. He works for a local pool table place and has said that he would get me a cue at cost. Any suggestions?

Nice try! :)

It will be a close call down the stretch. I think I am as well positioned as anyone to win, but I will need the stars to align properly. :)

Which team are you?

Now you just need a hot chick and a digicam and we'll all be very happy.

I remember in college, I bought a cheap set of billiard balls and in the course of freshman year, the 9-ball broke.

If your table is in a good-sized room, just get a handful of one-piece Dufferin cues for everyday play.

You can get a nice cue just for yourself; I recall at least one past thread that described a few choices. I haven't played pool in ages, but Meucci is always popular. I didn't think it's a great cue, but smooth and they sell well.

Funny thing I noticed about pool is they only show women's 9-ball and trick shot competitions on ESPN now. Hardly ever broadcast any men's tournament play; guess the pro sport isn't so popular these days.

I am in the number two spot. Jefe's Asshats I believe is the name I elected. The way I see it is that it will be either YOU or ME. the No.3 guy could be a spoiler, BUT I don't think he has a shot at it.

btw, did you just help to hijack your own thread?

Well, I guess it depends on how serious you are about the game. If you just want to kick back and have some fun with buddies every now and then, then just get a set of the one piece cues you see in pool halls. As long as you keep the tips in good shape and get a rack for them, they should last you a long time.

If you're more serious about the game and want to get a nice cue for yourself, I suggest you talk to a local pool guy who knows what he's talking about and hopefully find a place where you can try out a few different ones. Viking, Schon, and McDermott are all nice brands. You can also take a look at Predators; they have a unique shaft that's made of ten splices of wood, and it helps reduce deflection and increases spin. I've shot with one before, and it was very solid feeling. They'll cost you a good bit of $$$ though.

Anywhere from about $300 to over $1000 at this site. From a functional standpoint they're all the same; for the extra money you just get a prettier looking cue. Their limited edition cues really are beautiful though. The technology behind them is actually pretty cool. You can read about it at Predator's site.

McDermott cues are probably the best "bang for the buck" cues. At about $180, I still wouldn't call them cheap.
