Pretty much silent. You can hear the fans slightly, but it's really unnoticeable considering the case, the case location, and the 120mm fans.

Sorry, was in a rush and don't have any programs for doing so installed on my Mac right now (fresh format).

what monitor is that?

 for not reading either the topic or the post. It's an Apple 30" Cinema Display (www.apple.com/displays).

did you get a good deal on the screen or the price they have listed there?
(if you dont mind sharing)
edit:
sweet tower, by the by.

Got it refurbed from the Apple Store for $2600, $400 off the MSRP. But it's worth it; gaming, HDTV, and Maya is a dream on it.

yeah, it looks fantastic.
the price was a real D-shortener, though.
if i had the cash, id be right there with you.

Hey, well it took a LOT of saving. And the computer "only" costed me $1100, so it wasn't too bad. And damn, all that saving up was worth it. Workflow is totally different on this sucker. And being able to view 6MP pics almost entirely at 100% (well, not really, the monitor is 2560x1600, and the photos are 3008x2000) is a great addition when working with photos.

Are there any dead pixels? How is the backlight? (Bleeding/banding etc)

There's one green dead pixel in the center, but unless the screen is black, you can't see it. Out of so many pixels, one is no biggie. Backlight bleeding is more severe, on black that is, but once agian, it's not noticeable unless you look for it.

the 7800 gtx has dual-link dvi? i believe the apple 30" only supports dual-link.

Yup, all 7800-series cards (at least, based on the nVidia reference cards) have 1 single link DVI, and one dual-link.

How much did the case and PSU cost?

Case I got from CompUSA for $160, more expensive then ZZF where I ordered my other stuff, but I got Free 2 day shipping from ZZF. When I added the case to my ZZF order, the shipping went to $100 (2-day shippign not on cases) so it was cheaper/faster to get it from CompUSA, and it ended up being $70 cheaper.

The PSU was $70-$80 from ZZF.

To answer the above questions about the GTX, the 7800GT and GTX both have dual-link DVI.

EDIT: All models, not just most.

Sweet, I just did a rebuild using the P180 case, it rocks, I used a passive CPU HS & passively cooled card, the thing sounds like a refrigerator or appliance:)

Awesome :D. I wish there was some feasable passive cooling for the 7800GTX :(.

That's weird, the contrast on the apple displays is supposed to be amazing, but looking at the pic, it seems to be pretty much the same as my current monitor. I think I'll save my cash.

Press the "dead" pixel gently at first, then hard if needed, with your finger. It might go away.

Doesn't the 30" apple screen cost like $3000? Unless, you got a good deal somewhere...! Then LINKIFY!
