NF7-S V2
Athlon XP 2500+ AQXEA Week30
SLK 900U
Tornado 92mm
Antec Truepower 430...

Already have 1gig of PC3200 Winbond BH5, I should be good to go.

Gonna install, should let you know OCing results soon!

The Tornado is pretty loud, but I think I can deal with it. I laughed with glee when I plugged it in :D

I'm gonna replace the thermalcompound on the NB from the generic stuff to some AS3, then I'll install everything, and asap, report my OCing results.

Congratz, you get a cookie. :D Anyway, as for that Tornado, you'll get sick of it, trust me. So one word: rheobus. You need to get a 4-pin to 3-pin adapter (the only place I know that sells them is svc.com). Good setup, can't wait to see the results!

Wow, this Tornado is giving me a headache. lol... Yeah, I think I might have to pick up a rheobus... I'll see what else I can do to lower the noise down.

EDIT: Threw a blanket over the case, helped drown it out a little. Gonna plug the fan into the FAN ONLY slots from the PSU. I hear thats supposed to slow the fan down a little.

Rated @ 56.4db I think...

Hehe blanket over your case can = certain holes blocked from receiving air. Thus you'll just be counteracting the cooling your fans are supposed to do by not allowing fresh air in. Hehe, safe yourself the insanity (I suffered the same mistake... I didn't put my tornado back on until one year later after I got the rheobus) get a bus.

Remember, friends don't let friends put a Tornado on their computer without a rheobus.

I put it around the sides, it damped the sound.

Though, everyone was sick of it in my house. My mother thought it was my neighbors working on there lawn outside. Everyone was complaining, and I threw it on my Antec Truepower 430's Fan Only Molex connectors, and its MUCH quieter now. Regularly its 4900 RPMs, now its 2500, so Its running at about 50% power.

I'm currently overclocking as we speak. FSB @ 215, multiplier at 10. Just checking the max FSB I can go, then I'll mess with the multipliers. Bumped up the chipset voltage, as well as the DIMM voltage.

EDIT:

How much voltage you think my ram can take? Its rebadged TwinMOS PC3200 w/ Winbond bh5. Its running @ 2.8v right now. CPU still at stock voltage. (1.65)

Well, my CPU is clocked @ 11x210FSB for about 2.3ghz @ 1.93vcore (1.9v actual)...

Memory is @ 210mhz FSB @ 2-2-2-5. Max the memory could take was 240mhz FSB (probally very high timings, don't remember), booting into Windows.

I was hoping this chip can go higher. Is there any BIOs settings that I should enable/disable that could possibly be holding my CPU back?

Temps are higher than expected, its at 55C full load. I know the AS3 still has to settle in, but I would think that an SLK-900U w/ a 92mm Tornado @ 50% would yield better temps. My Alpha PAL8045 w/ some 52CFM 80mm fan got me to 45C full load @ 1.8v on my Epox 8K5A2 w/ my 2100+ Tbred...

Any suggestions how to get this thing to 2.5ghz? Any adjustments to some BIOS settings?

Do you have FSB spectrum turned off?

Your vcore is pretty high! I think thats why your temps are so high too.

If that FSB specturm is on 50 % or 100 % It makes my overclock unstable thus increasing voltage helps. When it is off I get 200x11.5 at stock vcore.

Or maybey compromise for a lower FSB Try 200x11.5 and see if its stable and a lower vcore.

IMO I have not noticed other than benchmarks the differnece between 210x11 and 200x11.5 Both are 2300mhz.

Anyhow nice over clock but I whould still recomend lowering you Vcore.

anyone still believe that the two bold numbers stand for a downgrade number???

i hope not...

and good luck on your o/c... seems like most people have been able to run 2.2 ghz at stock voltage

For the 900U cooler, I like a 92mm fan. They push a lot of air with little noise, and the 'overlap' on each side of the heatsink results in a nice stream of air cooling MOSFETs and board-level components. Sig system has YS-Tech 92mm rated at 66cfm.

Best stable settings i got with AQXEA 2500+ were 210 X 11 and 215 X 10.5, though some have reported 2.5GHz on air-cooling. I replaced my 2500+ with a $70 DLT3C 1700+.

Hope this helps!
