Can't do a whole lot with it yet because of the snow and ice but it's still exciting.

Nice. Just be very careful in snow or ice. You may want snow tires.

Wouldn't have been my first choice in color...but I wouldn't kick any G8 GT out the garage.

Enjoy! I love the G8. Damn shame it's a dead model now.

Yeah definitely be careful with those Potenza's in the cold/snow/ice. When I picked mine up in March I figured I would be in the clear until this winter. Then it got cold and even snowed a week later. Once it get below about 45° the tires will get a bit greasy and just get worse the colder it gets. When it snowed, while I was able to get home, I wasn't about to go anywhere else until the streets were clear.

That said, I picked up some 18s with Blizzak LM-25's for this winter and so far it has been an absolute night & day difference and it does great in the snow/ice. And oh yeah, get a tune on that thing to get rid of the ridiculous amount of torque management. It really makes a big difference in the manner of the car. May as well get an CAI then as well. ;)

Nice! The G8 is one of the few Pontiacs I would ever consider owning (the other being a recent model GTO). Shame that they got killed off.

A couple reasons why I got that color. First, it was either that or red. Can't find any other GTs in my area anymore. Second, my other car is black and I wanted something that was easier to keep clean. It still looks great. :)

When I got it, it was 10 degrees outside and I had to drive about 60 miles back home. I've always driven a front wheel drive 4 cyl. so it was a real eye opener. The roads were very slick. I'm going to drive my other car for the rest of the winter whenever the roads are even a little slick but next year might be a different story.

I've had silver cars in the past and there's no doubt that it's an easy color to take care of.

The dealer local to me had a Pacific Slate GT on the lot with pretty much every option for around $27k this spring during a clearance sale. I loved that color. That car tormented me for weeks before it finally sold.

Hmm... that's not a CAI, it's a short ram with a heat shield!

The bottom of if surrounding "shield" ducts way down to behind the fog light and is where it draws the air from. The top of it seals against the hood. My IAT stay within a few degrees of ambient temps.

Make sure and get a tune for it. The factory one leaves a TON on the table for a naturally aspirated car.

Different folks different strokes :thumbsup;

But for me no way I'd get a silver car. Gun metal grey type looks nice imo but I'm not a fan of silver cars anymore. Don't get me wrong a few years go I thought they looked the business but it's not for me anymore. I do have a silverstone grey and red leather S2000 though :p, why? Great price but not my first choice in colour.

Congrats!

Interesting... i was under the belief that all G8 GTs had chrome mirror housings as standard fare as well as Chrome surrounds on the windows... intriguing.

Mirror housings are body color on the top half from the factory, and yes all G8's have chrome window trim from the factory, it just blends in reallly well on a Silver car. I have dark gray so they really stick out, black ones from Oz are nearly $400 heh.

2nd on getting a tune to reduce/remove torque management. The difference is night and day. No more relatively soft launches or multi-gear drop downs.

I used www.blackbearperformance.com and went with a datalogged tune. He uses EFI Live and knows his stuff.

I'm more of an HP Tuners guy myself.

If you have the time and the will, I thoroughly enjoyed learning to tune my car on my own and you will learn more than you could have expected about modern motors.

I really wanted a GXP at one point, but the run was so short and with Pontiac gone, they were impossible to find new.
