I finally got it. I haven't even plugged the board in yet and I can tell it rocks just by looking at it, the layout of the board is very nice, and browsing through the manual seeing all of its nice features. I know people were having issues with there boards coming with the Diagnostic LED's and the 4700 and 3700 capacitors. Well mine came with the Diagnostic LED's, and all my capacitors are silver and are 4700. I noticed alot of boards came with like 3 4700's and 4 3700's. I don't really think there is a difference, I just thought I would let you guys know. The board came out to be $120 shipped from MonarchComputer.com. They were a pretty nice company, and it shipped FedEx 2-Day and got here pretty quick. Well wish me luck with my new pride and joy, and I'll keep everyone posted on how things go with it.

Which ones are better ? 4700 or 3700.. i'm really interested on how stable that board is, which AMD are you using and have you slap it together yet ? I'm eager to buy... lmk.. thanks..

Well from what I hear the 4700 naturally have more power which means more stability, but from other I have heard that both boards are the same and just cause some of them don't have all 4700's doesn't mean that its not as stable. But for now I am running a Duron 650 w/ Blue Core until I get my 1Ghz TBird, which I hope comes soon. And I haven't installed the board yet, I will do it in a lil' while though, and once I do, I'll keep ya posted on my results.

Dynamix3D LOL... maybe your parents will let you read the manual that will help past the time for 2 weeks, reading that you will know the board inside out.

:)

I also receive my MSI Pro2A board today. I had a simple mounting question.
DO I need to use some type of plastic spacers between the metal mounting
screws and the actual board? Thanks...

No, the ATX standard uses metal stand-offs to mount the board to the case. If these stand-offs are not already installed in the case, they will be in the package of hardware. Most of them are brass. Just match the six obvious reinforced holes in the motherboard to the correct six holes in the case, install the stand-offs, then screw down the board and yoy are set. Just be sure to ground yourself during the process (avoid stocking feet on carpet).

Craig

I got mine too!!! (yesterday - see my post...)
I have to wait until Christmas as my parents are getting me the CPU, fan and memory. (I'm advising them on the best brands) :)
Oh well...just have to wait.
My board has 4 4700uF capacitors (green coloured) and 3 3900uF capacitors (also green coloured with gold writing)
The board doesn't have the Smart D-Led - just the ordinary 4 LED.
Looks very good, and the Pro 2-A was only $5 more then the Pro 2.

I got mine 3 days ago and have been having LOTS of fun. Dropped a T-bird 800 on it and have it OC'd to 950mhz so far. As soon as I post this, I'm going for 1000mhz. Glad I don't have to wait for X-Mas......Ha! Ha! But then again, I'm older than Santa Claus.:D

You don.t get metal standoffs with a motherboard, only with a case purchase.
Congradulations on getting a fine board.
I might get one myself as I have a promise controller for 2 more IDE ports waiting.
I built this board for a friend and really like it. Rock stable
Will have to wait though. and check out tey're new DDRam motherboards first.

Does your board say Pro2 or Pro2-A? I bought a Pro2-A but got a board that say Pro2. I sent an e-mail to the vendor but have yet to hear from them. The manual and the box the board is in says Pro2-A but on the board it says Pro2.

wiin, look at the south bridge. It's a chip that says VIA promenently (not the one with a heat sink on it). If you have the Pro2-A, it will say "VT82C686B".

My box says MSI K7T Pro 2-A. Plus it has a ATA 100 sticker on one of the board chips. Which MSI K7T Pro 2 doesnt support. On the back of the motherboard is another sticker verifying it saying again MSI K7T Pro 2-A!

Chansen on my board I would have to remove the ATA100 sticker which I dont think I need to do because I certian its the MSI K7T Pro 2-A version.

BTW..On the front of my board it does say MSI K7T Pro 2. But I know its the A version. Also ALL 7 of my Capacitors say are green @ 3900. There HUGE! :D Dynamix3D are you sure your 3700 arent 3900?

Hope to have it running this weekend. Also you might want to read up and take notes. I forget the guy here who started the site but will be reading it myself VERY soon. I'm glad he started it though:

I just got lucky and my Dad let decided to let me fire it up before Xmas. So I will be putting this bad boy together in a lil' while. Too bad I can't overclock yet since my FOP32-1 isn't here yet. But this Duron should overclock nicely, since its a blue core and its week 38. :)

To be honest, I don't know the answer to the problem. But I can tell you that more than likely it is NOT the MSI board. I have seen that same problem (windows protection error on shutdown) on numerous motherboards (AMD and INTEL). I believe it is problem a resource conflict, driver problem, or even Windows itself. There is a know issue with Windows not wanting to shutdown properly.
